Historia
When Zoe Faust sees the ghost of a murdered young woman, is it really a spirit—or a flesh and blood woman who stopped aging because she’s a fellow alchemist? Sixteen years ago, high school student Ridley Price discovered a secret she planned to reveal through a party game—but someone killed her first. The baffling crime was never solved. Zoe’s friend Heather has always wondered: Which of the seven guests at the party killed Ridley? When the newly appeared ghost turns dangerous, threatening people they love, Zoe teams up with her gargoyle roommate to unmask the supposed specter.

FIRE THE EDITORS OF THIS SERIES!
Revisado: 03-16-25
Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed this series, for the most part. However, it is beyond me how:
#1 Veronica “suddenly” started calling Zoe by her first name in this book, and this is noted by Zoe. IF ANYONE were to (I don’t know actually do their jobs 🙄) re-read previous books, you’d see that in (if I remember correctly) the second book she had stopped calling her Ms. Faust, and grown more informally to using Zoe. And of course by the next book Veronica had once again reverted back to the formal. 🤦🏻♀️
#2 IS THE EDITOR ACTUALLY EDITING THESE BOOKS, OR JUST RUBBER-STAMPING THEM? How many times must the SAME information be repeated, sometimes in the same 10 minute chapter??
I REALLY thought that by book 4 that this absolutely horrible amateurish habit had been broken, but with this book it’s obvious that it’s not only returned, but become so bad as to make the book unenjoyable. I almost could not finish it.
I do really like the characters, and would really love to see more of them and what happens in their crazy lives, but I am NOT buying any more books from this author, until either she learns to self edit, or starts to work with an actual editor.

The anti-JK Rowing for the win 🏆 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Revisado: 02-18-25
This novel had me howling with laughter & seething with anger.
The kids are the funniest part of this story. Make sure that you’ve visited the smallest room before reading, as you don’t want to be caught short.
On the flip side, I was so very 🤬angry🤬 with the government’s handling and manipulation of many issues. Of course it’s easy to see parallels between the novel and what’s going on in the 🌎 around us, which of course, just makes the anger more understandable.
The narration was great. Keeping 7 children and 6+ adults voices different, cannot be easy. However towards the end, (I won’t say where exactly “no spoilers”) very many times the wrong voice was used for the wrong character, making the story VERY difficult to follow. 🫣
All in all this is a wonderful 📖. One that I will recommend, as well as read again.

So many feels!
Revisado: 09-27-24
Though this is mostly about the ins & outs of an estranged family of lawyers, who are all involved in one fashion or another, in a school shooting case. There is A LOT more to this book.
***Some of it can be VERY triggering (violence & rape)***
If however you can make it through those parts, then you’ll surely have the opportunity to be entertained by the humor that is bantered back & forth between various characters.
There were several times when I almost had to stop listening to this book, & I’ll admit to fast forwarding through some parts that hit a little too close to home, but I’m glad that I persevered, as I did enjoy this book in the end. If I could give 4.5 ⭐️s I would, but as I cannot, I’ll stick with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

Almost 5 ⭐️s all around
Revisado: 09-05-24
I really enjoyed this 📖. The humor, story lines, (there are many that intersect at varying levels) I even enjoyed the way that it’s written. Having the narrator/guide, walk me through and point out all of the details that I may have missed.
How does He do this you may ask yourself? Well our story teller (Ern/Ernest Cunningham) uses a technique, which in acting is called “breaking the 4th wall.” Therefore you actually feel as if you’re walking, sitting, whatever right along with them.
Benjamin Stevenson has written this 📖 (about Ern Cunningham and his very quirky family) who is himself a man who writes 📚 trying to help people learn to write mystery novels for themselves. I was a Scotch annoyed when the 📖 ended & there were a few, if not several questions that had yet to be answered. However, I’ve consequently learned.that this is only the 1st 📖in a series 😎
I cannot wait to begin the next one!
Barton Welch narrated this 📖 & He did a 99% wonderful job. That 1% you ask? Well, it’s because Benjamin Sanderson uses the word assumed A LOT; however, Barton Welch pronounces it: AsHUMed. 🙉 in fact, if I’d have heard it mispronounced one more time, I don’t think I could have been held responsible for my actions.
All in all I do recommend this 📖, I will be reading the next one in the series, and possibly even others from Benjamin Sanderson

I’ve missed all of these characters 🥹
Revisado: 08-03-24
I know that P. Rothfuss has taken quite some time to complete the final installment of the “Inherent the Wind” trilogy. I also know that there’s an old saying: it was worth the wait. I remain hopeful in that whenever it happens it will truly be worth the wait 😉
In the mean time we have this small glimpse into the going’s on in a day of Bast’s life. What could be more entertaining? As usual Bast has a plan for every favor & piece of gossip for which he trades. You may not know what he’s planning, but when he uses said, “payments,” you’ll probably chuckle as I did.
N. Podel narrated (yet again 🥳) for this [mini-novel 🤷🏻♀️] and as usual did a fantastic job. He has a wide & varied range of voices that he uses to differentiate between characters, so that we as the audience can just about see them, in our minds eye.
Lastly P. Rothfuss narrates the acknowledgments. This is mostly a beautiful love letter to his 2 sons. 💜😐💜 I know that it made me want to go & find my daughters, & hug them (& they’re all grown & flown🤣)

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Revisado: 07-17-24
I know that Deborah Harkness had much going on, and bravely fought to take care of herself between Times Convert & this novel. I’m SO glad that she’s doing better! AND I’m so happy to have this new Discovery of Witches novel, I just wish that it hadn’t ended so soon 🥲 Now I’m left wondering, when’s the next book coming out 🤔
I’m dead set against spoilers, so I won’t divulge any; however, I don’t think I’m actually doing that by sharing the following thoughts. So as Goodie Aslip would say “go canny daughter/son,” because I wouldn’t want to spoil anything for anyone.
I know that DH had spoken/written about several different possible future character/story lines that she had ongoing. I thought that sometime in the past year or two that she’d intimated that this book would revolve around Gallowglast’s story/past, unfortunately it did not. 🙁
All in all though, we get to see a lot of the characters, several years on, (as the twins are almost 7.) Of course with the Bishop-DeClermont family nothing is ever straight forward, easy, or black & white. So put on your seatbelt, because it’s going to be a fun ride & “see you on the flip side.”

Very charming 🤭
Revisado: 05-20-24
When I began this 📖, I at first thought it was going to be a slightly depressing internal monologue. However I’m so glad that I kept listening, as it soon had me laughing. Several times so hard & loud that I had to rewind & relisten, as I’d not been able to actually hear 1/2 of what the narrator (who was wonderful) had said.
Arthur Pepper does have a wonderful internal monologue, as it happens, which actually turns out to be hilarious, as do his external conversations with the ever increasingly varied cast of characters in this novel.
I don’t want to say anything more, as I don’t believe in spoilers, so I’ll just say that this 📖 is definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ in my opinion.

Revisado: 04-07-24
I personally enjoy long books 📚 and series. This has both.
My interests are varied; however, this (The Keeper Chronicles: The Complete Trilogy ) encompasses several of my favorites. Elves, Dwarves, and Keepers (in other words wizards.🤷🏻♀️)
I can honestly say that when I checked to see the remaining time, and learned that this 📚 would be finished in just over an hour’s time, I was sad. Even after having listened for 45+ hours, I REALLY wanted more.
This is my 2nd JA Andrew’s 📚 & it will not be my last. Tim Gerard Reynolds narrated, and did a lovely job.
I truly laughed, was scared, wondered, and was intrigued. If you love 💜 Patrick Rothfus, JRR Tolkin, & even JK Rolling, as I do, I think that you’ll enjoy this 📚

Don’t judge a book 📖 by its cover
Revisado: 02-21-23
That old chestnut: don’t judge a 📖by its cover is sooo true here! This 📖had me sitting on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what antics Evelyn Hugo (main character) would say next. Then I’d be torn between shock and laughter. Just when you think that you know what is going to happen next, Evelyn zigzags and goes in a different direction that you never even knew existed.
Considering it’s currently 4am, I’d definitely say that this is a 📖 that I couldn’t put down.
