Historia
It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

Lots of answers
Revisado: 12-21-22
Listenting to this book was great. Questions were answered that I did not know I had. The story took on parts and then they all came together. If I had the book in my hand it would be a page turner. I would stay awake listening and then stop because I did not want it to end. Great Job Ms Penny.

Historia
When a peculiar letter arrives inviting Armand Gamache to an abandoned farmhouse, the former head of the Sûreté du Québec discovers that a complete stranger has named him one of the executors of her will. Still on suspension, and frankly curious, Gamache accepts and soon learns that the other two executors are Myrna Landers, the bookseller from Three Pines, and a young builder. None of them had ever met the elderly woman. The will is so odd and includes bequests that are so wildly unlikely that Gamache and the others suspect the woman must have been delusional.

Still a good series
Revisado: 12-12-18
I am still getting use to the new narrator, he tries to hard on the different voices. The story is continuous and if you did not read book #13 you may get confused in this book. I think the story line is great, the characters are real and I feel like I am there with them. It shows all the good and bad points of the people living in this story. I love the different story lines and trying to keep everything in my head. It is not boring and it is very interesting. I love this series.

Nice surprise-Fabulous
Revisado: 12-03-18
I bought this book because it was on sale and because it was long. Knowing nothing of the aurthur or the narrator I was not sure but willing to try something new. What a Nice Surprise, it was a fabulous listen, The narrator puts you there, sometime long winded but worth the listen. It has so many great characters and their lives are varied and complex. A mixture of fantasy and mystery with violence and sorrow. It has everything you need for a great novel. I love the way the narrator describes what is happening. It can be confusing, skipping from one person's tale to another. And the names are really hard for me to remember, but as the story continues you get to know who is talking. I am ready for the second book.

Historia
On the surface, the Victorian age is one of propriety, industry, prudishness and piety. But scratch the surface and you’ll find scandal, sadism, sex, madness, malice and murder. Presented by Stephen Fry, this series delves deep into a period of time we think we know, to discover an altogether darker reality. The stories we’re told offer a different perspective on an era which underwent massive social change. As education, trade, technology and culture blossomed, why was there an undercurrent of the ‘forbidden’ festering beneath Victorian society?

Fun British History
Revisado: 11-08-18
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Not what I thought, should be called Victorian Secret Facts. Putting the professionals in to help tell the stories was a great idea. I learned so many things about what we used today, and so many other things. This is a great listen and the narrator is very good. He has a great sense of humor and it comes thru when the professionals are kinda of dry in their telling.

A change of voice
Revisado: 10-16-18
I love this series, so real. The first thing I noticed was the narrator's way of telling the story. I checked and it's not the same narrator. It makes a difference in how the story is heard, on how the story is told. Still it's a good story.

Revisado: 09-25-18
This series is really good, small town, growing friendship, Murder. American meets small town England. I love the friendship between the main characters. How the author is mixing it up in a small town. Also is this Love in the air? Keeps me reading them as fast as they can be translated. The Narrator is great.

Great not the end story
Revisado: 09-20-18
Listening to the challenge Harry and friends are facing and how real it seems. Showing the weakness and the strengths of the characters. Secrets kept, mystery unfolding, bonds broken, friendship tested, so good. The story lets us see them becoming more of themselves, how Harry must make the final decisions. They are growing into the adults I hope to read about later, its' that good. Love the entire series.

Historia
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Blade Runner meets Ghost in the Shell
Revisado: 02-27-18
Would you listen to Altered Carbon again? Why?
Yes, it has a great story line, alot of talk about past but it's interesting.
Who was your favorite character and why?
He was, what a life waking up after how many years ...LOL and still able to function.
Which scene was your favorite?
Not sure I have a favorite. Saw the series on Netflix and it had to be the ending with the sister.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
NO, wanted it to last. Listen mostly in my car, love the narrator.
Any additional comments?
Watching the Netflix series will not hurt, helped some. But the book is totally different in some ways. Details differ, both book and Netflix are good.
