Historia
The 1960 baseball season is shaping up to be the worst year of Eddie O’Leary’s life. He can’t manage to hit the ball, his new teammates hate him, he’s living out of a suitcase, and he’s homesick. When the team’s owner orders him to give a bunch of interviews to some snobby reporter, he’s ready to call it quits. He can barely manage to behave himself for the length of a game, let alone an entire season. But he’s already on thin ice, so he has no choice but to agree.

Breathless presentation
Revisado: 10-19-24
Not much new here. The presentation was rather breathless. If you want a simple gay love story from a different age then go for it

Historia
The Big Three in Economics reveals the battle of ideas among the three most influential economists in world history: Adam Smith, representing laissez faire; Karl Marx, reflecting the radical socialist model; and John Maynard Keynes, symbolizing big government and the welfare state. History comes alive in this fascinating story of opposing views that continue to play a fundamental role in today's politics and economics.

Free market cherry picking
Revisado: 09-15-24
Well I learned a lot about economics, but it’s is so clearly opinionated towards free markets. Lot do false straw man arguments and cherry picking of analyses.
It did reinforce just how anti democratic free market advocates are. It’s all “trust us and put our rules in place so the people can’t override them”.
So a mixed bad. Read with caution.

Historia
Rights are a sacred part of American identity. Yet they were an afterthought for the Framers. Only as a result of the racial strife that exploded during the Civil War—and a series of resulting missteps by the Supreme Court—did rights gain such outsized power. Over and again, courts have treated rights conflicts as zero-sum games in which awarding rights to one side means denying rights to others. As eminent legal scholar Jamal Greene shows in How Rights Went Wrong, we need to recouple rights with justice—before they tear society apart.

Good take on the US legal system
Revisado: 03-02-23
I’ve often had a feeling that something was fishy with the US legal system: fights often seemed to be about the wrong thing (Gay cake anyone?). This book gave me a foundation to understand what the problem really is.
I don’t see it being addressed anytime soon, but very much enjoyed the listen.

Historia
Most people will be shocked to learn that in 1933 a cabal of wealthy industrialists - in league with groups like the K.K.K. and the American Liberty League - planned to overthrow the U.S. government in a fascist coup. Their plan was to turn discontented veterans into American "brown shirts," depose F.D.R., and stop the New Deal. They clandestinely asked Medal of Honor recipient and Marine Major General Smedley Darlington Butler to become the first American Caesar. He, though, was a true patriot and revealed the plot to journalists and to Congress.

Educational but rather dry and repetitive
Revisado: 06-27-21
I didn’t know the story. The book gives a strong warning about the dangers of corporate influence on government and how far they might go. Shocking stuff.
The book would have benefited from stronger editing
