Historia
In the summer of 1974 a heatwave blankets Boston and Mary Pat Fennessey is trying to stay one step ahead of the bill collectors. Mary Pat has lived her entire life in the projects of “Southie,” the Irish American enclave that stubbornly adheres to tradition and stands proudly apart. One night Mary Pat’s teenage daughter Jules stays out late and doesn’t come home. That same evening, a young Black man is found dead, struck by a subway train under mysterious circumstances. Mary Pat, propelled by a desperate search for her daughter, begins turning over stones best left untouched.

Historia
The Book of the Dead is the morgue log, the ledger in which all cases are entered by hand. For Kay Scarpetta, however, it is about to acquire a new meaning. A sixteen-year-old tennis star, fresh from a tournament win Charleston, is found nude and mutilated near Piazza Navona in Rome. The body of an abused young boy is dumped in a desolate marsh. A woman is ritualistically murdered in her multimillion-dollar beach home.

I got off the train. aside from the brutality in the first chapter. The second chapter opened with confrontational conversations and continued with open hostility between all on the main characters so far. Who wants to read_listen to this. I think the Scarpetta character has jumped the shard. Sorry Ms. Cornwell not spending another dime on your stories. used to love the level headed Scarpetta!

Historia
How much of our daily caloric intake comes from ingesting substances that, technically speaking, do not meet traditional definitions of “food”? Chances are, if you’re eating something that came wrapped in plastic and contains a funky ingredient you don’t have in your kitchen, it's most likely—almost definitely—ultra-processed food, or UPF.

No Wonder so Many People are Sick

The information is timely given the convenience of of fast food or restaraunt food or the boxed foods that seem to make a meal out of nothing. Once you start to hear how some of what is considered "regular food" is made from, you just might think about eating differently!

From Martin Clark - praised by Entertainment Weekly as "our best legal-thriller writer" - comes a wickedly clever, tenderhearted, and intricately plotted novel about a hard-luck lawyer's refusal to concede defeat, even as fate, the court system, and a gang of untouchable con artists conspire against him.

that the author doesn't know very much about quilting
Revisado: 11-16-23
it's annoying to listen to a story that doesn't know very much about a subject in the title. Quilting and piecing a block/square are 2 very different areas of making a quilt!

Historia
LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a master detective. He has a near-perfect solve rate, and he’s written his own rule book. Some of those successes - the toughest ones - have involved his best friend, the brilliant Psychologist Alex Delaware. But Milo doesn’t call Alex in unless cases are "different". This murder warrants an immediate call. Milo’s independence has been compromised as never before, as the department pressures him to cater to the demands of a mogul: a hard-to-fathom, megarich young woman who is obsessed with reopening the coldest of cases.

Historia
After working one of the worst mass killings in U.S. history, Scarpetta returns home to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Exhausted and ill, she's recovering at home when she receives an unsettling call. The body of a young woman has been discovered on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's rugby field. The victim, a graduate student named Gail Shipman, is oddly draped in ivory linen and posed in a way that is too deliberate to be the killer's first strike.

Revisado: 07-30-23
the back and forth in time and events & the illness at the beginning is a bit tiresome and, at times, confusing. when it all comes together and the mystery begins is where the story should have started.... also had to speed up the playback. the narrators pace was just too slow.
