It's's old but it's okay
Revisado: 02-28-24
There is a lot more research out now on how to treat your children with respect and kindness so some of this older stuff is based on outdated information. A lot has happened in 50 years. The main take away from almost all child rearing books is don't be an asshole to your kids.

Different from the other book
Revisado: 12-09-22
This was alright, but it jumped around a ton and just felt like it really didn't go anywhere. Like the book is 37 ish chapters, and it spans about 90 days .... just idk wasn't great, which was disappointing. I really like the 1st 3 books. This just didn't meet expectations.

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

This has a lot of examples which can be helpful
Revisado: 06-21-22
This book and Raising Good Humans are almost identical the only difference is the study groups done in this book also this book was way too boomer for me. It's hard to listen to the way some of the parents talk about their children. That whole generation really struggled and continues to struggle to be good parents or good grandparents.
The book is alright worth a listen, take what you need from it and maybe find something newer to read that might be more relevant to current conditions.
I have started practicing on my husband and it seems slightly effective. Especially the I statements.

If you have a debt problem or have a tendency to spend compulsively and need a solution in order to gain back control on your finances and reach your financial goals faster, keep reading. Our financial health directly impacts our physical and mental health. This core issue of our material lives often goes unaddressed until it’s too overwhelming to live with. The fact that talking about money is taboo in a culture obsessed with its accrual is the number one sign that our relationship to finances is toxic.

Revisado: 03-15-20
I don't normally listen to these sorts of books, but this book was written and told well. I really enjoyed listening to it in the car on my way to and from work, and while going through my day to day tasks. I loved this book as short as it was I feel better for having listened to it. I would recommend it for sure.

Historia
We're in the middle of an epidemic of average. So-called "normal" people get up every day, go to work, do what's asked of them, leave promptly at five, and return home to sit on the couch and watch TV. Society tells us that this is what it means to lead a balanced life. Don't stress too much or work too hard. Your career isn't everything. But Grant Cardone thinks this preoccupation with balance has really just given an excuse to be mediocre.

This could have been 3 hours or less
Revisado: 01-08-20
This could have been 3 hours or less but the author drones on and on about himself. It gets old fast, the actual information is pretty decent, getting to it and trying to listen to catch the good parts of this self-help book was difficult.
I just wish they would cut the "fluff" out of this book.
