Historia
Life for Lady Adelaide Bell was easier if she hid in her older sister's shadow - which worked until her sister got married. Even with the pressure of her socially ambitious mother, the last thing she expected was a marriage of convenience to save her previously spotless reputation. Lord Trent Hawthorne couldn't be happier that he is not the duke in the family. He's free to manage his small estate and take his time discovering the life he wants to lead.

This Narrator Ruins Every Book She Reads
Revisado: 03-04-24
I enjoyed the story itself, but, once again, my overall enjoyment was significantly reduced by the narrator, Charlotte Anne Dore. It is a mystery to me why multiple authors continue to use her, despite consistently bad reviews for her performances. Her male voices are unrealistic and, even, odd-sounding, her regional accents are either very wrong or simply non-existent, and she mispronounces so many words (even common ones) that I lose count while listening, and find it consistently distracting. I have reached the point now where I will purposely avoid purchasing books for which she is the narrator, in favor of absolutely anyone else. I wish authors would take the time to read these reviews, because I am far from alone in my feelings about this, and other narrators could be hired instead, who would not ruin the authors work.

Historia
Wealthy, New York City girl Claire Lindell wasn't looking for a Christmas miracle or happiness when she abruptly decided to hole up for the holiday at her godmother's cottage in a little Yorkshire village, and lick her wounds, from a near disastrous romantic decision. After her car skids into a snow bank, Claire may have accidently found her perfect Christmas and the family and love she's craved, when she offers Noah Bradford of Ayesgill Farm help to push the back end of one of his sheep out of the icy mud, even if she's going to ruin a brand new pair of Prada boots during the rescue.

Horrible narrator
Revisado: 11-18-23
I am a fan of Kate Hewitt’s books, but this was a real disappointment for a few reasons. The worst was the awful narrator. She seems to think she was in Australia! It was so bad, I could hardly concentrate on the story. Also, the book was full price but turned out to be only three hours long. (It may have said it somewhere, but I didn’t think to look around for it.) And, finally, the story itself, while pleasant, reminded me quite a bit of the book that takes place in the Orkney Islands. All in all, a waste of time and money from an otherwise good writer.

Historia
With little to live on but her romantic daydreams - which frequently starred the dashing Marquess of Fleetwater - Jean Lindsay lived a rather dismal life with her nasty, drunken uncle. Jean was always the object of ridicule, that is, until news of her unexpected inheritance spread. Suddenly her worn dresses became "quaint" and her forthright manner turned magically to "charming", but to Jean's horror, someone wanted her dead!

Awful narrator
Revisado: 09-14-23
Fun story, but the narration was so bad, it really spoiled my enjoyment. The male characters, in particular, sounded unrealistic, even bizarre. I will look for other books in the series that are read by other narrators from now on.

Do not like this reader!

Her voice is grating and her reading is not smooth and flowing, as it should be. I much preferred Penelope Keith!
