Historia
Coyote America is both an environmental and a deep natural history of the coyote. It traces both the five-million-year-long biological story of an animal that has become the "wolf" in our backyards and its cultural evolution from a preeminent spot in Native American religions to the hapless foil of the Road Runner. A deeply American tale, the story of the coyote in the American West and beyond is a sort of Manifest Destiny in reverse.

Really enjoyed this listen. Interesting subject. Good narrator. I’ll look for other non fiction from this reader.

Historia
On a whim, Grady Kendall applies to work as a live-in caretaker for a luxury property in Hawaiʻi, as far from his small-town Maine life as he can imagine. Within days he's flying out to an estate on remote Hokuloa Road, where he quickly uncovers a dark side to the island’s idyllic reputation: it has long been a place where people vanish without a trace. When a young woman from his flight becomes the next to disappear, Grady is determined—and soon desperate—to figure out what's happened to Jessie, and to all those staring out of the island’s “missing" posters.

Kind of a fun story. Not great, but I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the endemic wildlife of the Islands.
Good premise. Just not great.

As Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes embark on their 11th adventure together, they find themselves immersed in the world of silent filmmaking. Here, the pirates are real—and unlike the shooting done with a camera, this sort can be deadly.

A Disappointing Surpruse
Revisado: 08-09-20
I have so enjoyed this entire series. But this book was so contrived and ridiculous it was difficult to finish. Don’t bother with this installment. It adds nothing to the overall adventure and is a major waste of time and money.

Historia
Ted Kerasote met and adopted Merle, a Labrador mix, while he was on a camping trip. Merle had been living in the wild, and after taking the dog home with him to Wyoming, Kerasote soon realized that Merle could not adjust to inhabiting exclusively the human world. So he put a door in his house to let Merle live both outside and in. A deeply touching portrait of a remarkable animal, Merle's Door explores the issues that all animals and their human companions face.

I learned a lot from this
Revisado: 11-12-11
As a dog lover and person who loves the outdoors, I found this a fascinating and illuminating read. I will purchase it for several friends who I know will be engaged by Merle's interesting personality and the research that explains so many characteristics of companion dogs. The end got a little 'over the top' but overall a very good book.

This was a cute and engaging twist to the Sherlock Holmes stories. I really liked the characters and would enjoy listening to another story along this line. It was just a fun listen.

Historia
It’s 1916, and Idaho rancher Cleo Arlington knows everything about horses but nothing about men. So when charged with transforming English aristocrat Sherwood Statham from playboy into cowboy, she’s totally disconcerted. So is Statham, who’s never encountered a woman succeeding in a “man’s world.” Their bumpy trot into romance is frustrating, exhilarating, and ultimately heartwarming.

An insipid story. Not nearly what it was stated to be. Really laid on the religious bent toward the end. I did not care for this at all.

What a Trip!
Revisado: 03-25-08
I really enjoyed this book. As a matter of fact, the minute I finished, I started it over and listened to it again, just in case I missed anything the first time through. I got totally caught up in the fantasy world that was very credible. I think it is the hallmark of excellent fantasy to pull the reader into a willing suspension of disbelief, and Neverwhere certainly did that for me. This story was a vacation into another culture and land without ever leaving my own chair. Thanks for the trip!
