I loved the storyline. It was believable since I've seen so many stories of this happening while living on the west coast. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say listen to the first episode and you'll be hooked. My only gripe was sometimes not being able to differentiate Manny and Brandon's voices at times.

So worth the wait

A while ago I started following Will Smith on YouTube. He drops a lot of knowledge there. After a while I wondered whether he had a book…nope. I wonder “HOW does this guy not have a book?” Needless to say that when I heard he was going to release one, I just had to have it. I’m glad I decided on Audible though. The music throughout some of his life experiences really help the reader get immersed in the story. I have so many favorite parts that Were bookmarked. The stand out though, was that “YOU are the only one that can make YOU happy.” That’s not anyone else’s responsibility, but yours.
If you’re looking for a tell all on what happened behind the scenes between him and Jada, I wouldn’t say that this is all the juicy secrets. They have already pretty much told us about that. What you do find out in the book is about where Will’s mind was leading up to and after the explosive news.

Amazing

This is the first book I’ve bought simply because the author was one I like. I didn’t read the synopsis, didn’t pay attention to the cover...nothing. Someone posted that her book dropped on June 1 and I bought it. I started it yesterday night during wash day. I went to sleep listening until 2:30 AM, thankful that I thought to put a sleep timer on but listening through it anyway and cutting myself off.
It was a slow build in the beginning and I wondered if I had made a mistake while listening to the first two chapters and trying to see where the story was going. When I got to chapter three, I was hooked and thankful that I had already completed my assignments for my course this week.
Evie (I don’t know if that’s the correct spelling since I only listened) is a senior in H.S. who is struggling with the thought of love after the dissolution of her parent’s marriage. She gets rid of all her favorite romance novels at a “give one, take one” outdoor library. Later she starts to see people’s love story from start to finish and vows to keep heartbreak out of her life by blocking love. She starts learning how to dance and meets a guy, BUT this is not a love story...
Bravo to Nicola Yoon for another really good book. The anguish that Evie felt around chapter 41 was so real I wanted to hug her. If you knew your love story, from start to finish, from a loving kiss, would you be willing to keep falling in love?

Surprisingly great

I was avoiding this book for a while since it’s an autobiography. I really enjoyed the poop story. He had me laughing out loud throughout the book, but especially on that part. I also learned A LOT about South Africa. This book felt like a self help, motivational, comedy that I wanted more of after it ended. Speaking of the ending, I loved the way he ended it with a hilarious quip from his mother.

So mad it ended

I felt like this was my cousin. She talks so much like her. Her ghetto voice made me cringe because this is my family. I had family members on both sides of the proverbial track. I identify with both. Anyway, I didn’t want this book to end. I wanted to know if he had insurance, if she sent a message to LaShonda, if Maddie showed up at the hospital. So much more I wanted but so much was given right there in the story. Excellent listen.

I couldn’t put it down

This book caught me from the very beginning. Before the 3rd chapter ended, I knew I had to finish it. Some parts had me ballin’ but Star had me rooting for her consistently. This book has me wanting to research more about the Black Panthers and Huey Newton. Maverick, the father brought them up a lot and now I want my children to know more about our history

Too good to stop reading

Let me tell you something about cliffhangers. I hate them! But, I loved this book throughout. I couldn't put it down. At the very end, and honestly a few times during, I found myself saying "Oh, hell na'll". I can't wait to read the next book. Mary always keeps me waiting more which is why hers and Carl Weber's books stay in my library.

Must Read whether fan or not

This storyline keeps you entertained the whole way through. I found myself talking out loud in the grocery store with headphones in telling the characters to watch out lol. I'm glad Carl Weber was able to bring a character from a previous novel in as a help to the family otherwise the story probably would have come to a dramatic conclusion that left readers feeling empty. The ending was just what I needed to read to feel like the storyline could come to a close or reopen if need be ( let's hope for the later 😁)
