Historia
In this original and meticulously researched narrative history, the author of the “stunning” (The Sunday Times) Young and Damned and Fair uses the sinking of the Titanic as a prism through which to examine the end of the Edwardian era and the seismic shift modernity brought to the Anglo-American world.

Accent, phrasing and mispronounciation by Jenny Funnel sent me screaming back to the printed word.

Historia
Hirsi Ali tells the stirring story of her search for a new life in America in this vivid philosophical memoir, picking up where Infidel left off. Nomad is a portrait of a family torn apart by the clash of civilizations. But it is also a touching, uplifting, and often funny account of one woman’s discovery of today’s America.

Enlightening
Revisado: 06-20-20
I picked this book up in a “free” pile at my auto repair shop, of all places. Since reading it, I’’ into her next book, “Infidel” and have sent the hard copy to a girlfriend and free audio books to 3 others-former residents of 3 Foreign countries; two Muslim men. Can’t wait yo hear whst they sll think of it. A compelling raw personal life story with serious implications for every PC limousine liberal in the US. Thanks Ayaan, for sharing the naked butt ugly truth.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Do I look surprised?
Revisado: 10-02-19
Or just disappointed? As a former Gladwell fan, I’m wondering if he’s fallen victim to the syndrome wherein success breeds duplication. This book seems to have been written and read by some weird, angry, corrupt automaton. While the main thesis- “ya can’t accurately judge a book by its cover” is quite interesting, Gladwell fails to keep one entertained while plowing thru disturbing pseudospsychocientific history. Even on a long car trip, BORING!
