Historia
The celebrated 2010 HBO miniseries The Pacific, winner of eight Emmy Awards, was based on two classic books about the War in the Pacific, Helmet for My Pillow and With The Old Breed. Audible Studios, in partnership with Playtone, the production company co-owned by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, and creator of the award-winning HBO series Band of Brothers, John Adams, and The Pacific, as well as the HBO movie Game Change, has created new recordings of these memoirs, narrated by the stars of the miniseries.

An incredible close view of Marines fighting in the South Pacific and Okinawa. The most graphic, brutal story I’ve ever read. Showing the things that other books avoid.

Historia
The unforgiving Afghan winter settled upon the 22 men of Marine Special Operations Team 8222, call sign Dagger 22, in the remote and hostile river valley of Bala Murghab, Afghanistan. The Taliban fighters in the region would have liked nothing more than to once again go dormant and rest until the new spring fighting season began. No chance of that - this winter would be different.

Historia
War as I Knew It is the personal and candid account of General George S. Patton, Jr.'s celebrated, relentless crusade across Europe during World War II. First published in 1947, this absorbing narrative draws on Patton's vivid memories of battle and his detailed diaries, from the moment the Third Army exploded onto the Brittany Peninsula to the final Allied casualty report. The result is not only a grueling, human account of daily combat but also a valuable chronicle of the strategies and fiery personality of a brilliant warrior.

It was fascinating to hear Patton‘s descriptions of Morocco, 80 years ago, following that is a long, long tale of troop, movements, end, arrangements of units. His final comments in the last two hours are very worthwhile, he gathers up all his insights from his years at war

Historia
In late June, 2005, media sources recounted the tragic story of 19 US special-operations personnel who died at the hands of insurgent/terrorist leader Ahmad Shah - and the lone survivor of Shah's ambush - deep in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan. The harrowing events of Operation Red Wings marked an important - yet widely misreported - chapter in the Global War on Terror, the full details of which the public burned to learn. Victory Point reveals the complete, as-yet untold story of Operation Red Wings and the follow-on mission, Operation Whalers.

And amazing story that puts Lone Survivor in context. It is hard to discuss this book without referencing that one, but that’s the point. Most people will come to this story through Lone Survivor. They both tell a good story, and while lone survivor focuses on the Navy SEALs, Victory Point focuses on the Marines. And providing an important bridge between the individual stories, and the wider Afghan War.

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Revisado: 09-25-20
If you are playing a campaign in the Forgotten Realms, Reading this, sort of, where-it-all-started book is helpful to give you an early flavor of the Realms. The book gives a wonderful sense of the land, the magic, and the creature in it. The rest is rather… painful.

A good opportunity to hear Kissinger talk easily about his views and thoughts on international relations.. his ability to talk on people and events that he was in contact with is unique.
The audiobook would’ve been better if they had had a different narrator for the interviewer and for Kissinger.

And enjoyable survey for D&D fans
Revisado: 07-16-19
The author service very long list of books throwing in a lot of opinion about what he likes and doesn’t like. Which is entertaining, but the more surprising thing is that he thinks we care. To be fair, going through book after book as he does like a laundry list would be dry if he left this out. And given that it takes apparently years if you really want to read all the books and appendix N, this is a remarkably easy way to get a feel for the books and literary culture that underlies Dungeons & Dragons.

A good tale of an amazing event, the journey of a massive army across 2000 miles. Slightly bogged down at times, but this barely detracts from capturing the spirit of the first crusade.
