Delightful
Revisado: 04-01-24
This book recalled my boyhood fantasies of sailing the ocean with adventures in my heart. I listened to it in order to determine if it’s appropriate to read to my children. While I should probably wait another year or two I’m tempted to read it to them anyway so I can watch their imagination run and enjoy playing pirates in search of buried treasure with them. It’s a great story and a classic. Like many readers it took a chapter or two to get used to his different voices and accents but I was soon immersed in the story, paying no attention to my first misgivings of his accents. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

Very informative.

This book dispelled a lot of presumptions I had about the fall of the Czar and the rise of Soviet Communism. It’s a really sad story but important to be knowledgeable of.

Good Wisdom
Revisado: 07-22-22
This book has a lot of wisdom that previous generations knew, much of which still apply today. I disagree with some of the conclusions on schooling but a few disagreements is expected with any book. The narration was obviously an old recording which I didn’t like at first but I came to enjoy because it fit so well with the content.

Historia
The United States has been the world's dominant power for more than a century. Now, many analysts believe that other countries are rising and the United States is in decline. Is the unipolar moment over? Is America finished as a superpower? In this book, Michael Beckley argues that the United States has unique advantages over other nations that, if used wisely, will allow it to remain the world's sole superpower throughout this century. We are not living in a transitional, post-Cold War era.

Good listen

Amazing facts about china’s weaknesses and strengths. I disagree with the conclusions about the US in the final chapter but the book is wonderful overall. I highly recommend for a good rebuttal to current unneeded escalating tensions between US and China today.

Very Insightful
Revisado: 04-15-21
This book really helps the listener understand the Israel lobby with an in-depth history of USA, Israel, and Arab conflict. I thought I knew a bit about the Israel/Palestine conflict but was surprised by the gaps in history that I was never taught. As someone who approached this subject as a somewhat Israel sympathizer I am walking away with a whole lot of contrary information that has shifted my perspective. The author reads the book in a very abrupt and emphatic way that caused me to only be able to listen for about two hours but I otherwise actually found it attention drawing.
