Historia
Spring 1937. In the four years since she left England, Maisie Dobbs has experienced love, contentment, stability - and the deepest tragedy a woman can endure. Disappointing and Depressing
Revisado: 05-08-15
What did you like best about A Dangerous Place? What did you like least?
Maisie has morphed into a less likable and depressing heroine in this book. I am not sure if I will continue with the series.
If you’ve listened to books by Jacqueline Winspear before, how does this one compare?
This is my least favorite book in the series. I have read or listened to all the books and was a big fan. The affair with James gave the series warmth and depth. Eliminating the relationship may be a fatal blow to the series. I miss the Billy character as well.
What aspect of Orlagh Cassidy’s performance would you have changed?
Something in Cassidy's tone with this reading makes Maisie come across as arrogant and cold.
Do you think A Dangerous Place needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Not sure where this series is headed, but it needs an energy injection.

Historia
Marley Clark, a retired military intelligence officer, works security for a Sea Island community simply to keep busy. A single night patrol transforms the feisty widow's yawner of a job into a deadly battle of wits when she finds an islander drowned and bobbing naked amid a potpourri of veggies in a Jacuzzi. Asked to serve as the lead investigator's liaison, the 52-year-old heroine is startled to discover she's become Deputy Braden Mann's target as well-for romance.

Solid page turner
Revisado: 01-06-14
Where does Dear Killer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Solid mystery and suspenseful. Marley was well developed, as an audacious and intrepid detective, which seemed credible since she was a former military colonel. She was forever resourceful in unconventional ways.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Constant plot twists and murders. Marley was always on the brink of calamity and that coupled with a steady string of murders kept the pace moving.
What about K. C. Cowan’s performance did you like?
Excellent narration, masterful with gender voice changes and accents.
Any additional comments?
Welcome to have the woman as always the rescuer, but it made Braden a bit inept, especially at the end. He might have been a bit more skillful at helping Marley out.
