Historia
Twenty-one-year-old Reed is fed up. Angry about the killing of a Black man by an Asian American NYPD officer, he wants to drop out of college and devote himself to the Black Lives Matter movement. But would that truly bring him closer to the moral life he seeks? In a series of intimate, charged conversations, his mother—once the leader of a Korean-Black coalition—demands that he rethink his outrage, and what it means to be an organizer, a student, an ally, an American, and a son. As Reed zips around Los Angeles with his mother, he faces a revelation that will change everything.

Pleasant surprise
Revisado: 01-20-23
I enjoyed this. I think it took a very nice look into some hard truths about advocacy and the toll it takes on a life. The main character did grow throughout, maybe not as much as I liked. But very worth the experience.

Surprised

This book has been all over for a while. And I was avoiding it. I am so glad I finally read it. Breathtaking, just as Evelyn herself was

You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

Interesting but not fully my taste
Revisado: 11-03-21
The performance as great! The narrator did very well with infusing emotion into the words they read. As for the story, not really my taste. The main character is really annoying. Sure it’s a journey of him becoming himself in his older years, but he’s terribly annoying the entire time. Not a terrible listen but not a first choice.

Amazing performance

I loved everything about this. The narration pulled me in just as much as the plot did. A great short read for those who love the Lovecraftian lore
