Deep is a voyage from the ocean's surface to its darkest trenches, the most mysterious places on Earth. Fascinated by the sport of freediving - in which competitors descend to great depths on a single breath - James Nestor embeds with a gang of oceangoing extreme athletes and renegade researchers. He finds whales that communicate with other whales hundreds of miles away, sharks that swim in unerringly straight lines through pitch-black waters, and other strange phenomena.

Historia
Primal Endurance shakes up the status quo and challenges the overly stressful, ineffective conventional approach to endurance training. While marathons and triathlons are wildly popular and bring much gratification and camaraderie to the participants, the majority of athletes are too slow, continually tired, and carry too much body fat respective to the time they devote to training. The prevailing "chronic cardio" approach promotes carbohydrate dependency, overly stressful lifestyle patterns, and ultimately burnout.

Starts slow but you get into it halfway through
Revisado: 07-17-15
At first it was kind of hard to grasp my attention because the first quarter of the book is a little bit slow and paired with the narrator's impersonation accents made it a little tiring. But as the book evolves, the author blends modern day stories of training and nutrition with those classic ones and it becomes more interesting. When the end of the book came along I was disillusioned that it was the end. It has little morsels of advice for the modern athlete but overall I think it was lacking in some parts. Interest read also if you're into war stories and long lost ways of life.

Historia
Travis Macy has summited glacial peaks in the French Alps, rappelled into limestone caves in China, and raced through parched deserts in Utah. In 2013 he famously won the Leadman Series, a combination of nearly 300 miles of high-altitude trail running and mountain biking over the course of five epic endurance races. Macy achieved all of these victories without elite professional training or even exceptional strength, speed, or flexibility.

My instincts were right...
Revisado: 03-07-13
If you could sum up The Power of Habit in three words, what would they be?
This book is really interesting. It is an insightful look at the power of habits and how they shape us on a daily basis. It's full of little stories and examples of people and situations and how their decisions are mostly made by habit. Narrated in a clear voice by the Chamberlain it never became tiresome or boring. A must "listen".

Historia
In American on Purpose, Craig Ferguson delivers a moving and achingly funny memoir of living the American dream as he journeys from the mean streets of Glasgow, Scotland, to the comedic promised land of Hollywood. Along the way, he stumbles through several attempts to make his mark - as a punk rock musician, a construction worker, a bouncer, and, tragically, a modern dancer.

Craig Delivers...
Revisado: 03-07-13
What made the experience of listening to American on Purpose the most enjoyable?
I'm a huge fan of Craig's TV Show and have seen him live so I thought that naturally this was the next step in getting to know my favorite TV person and I was right. Narrated in a really clear voice by Craig himself I find the book a really good insight into his life. I understand certain things about himself now a little bit better and I think some parts of it are really funny. Don't expect this book to be a deliberately funny one. This is above all, a book about his life and how he became who he is today. A really entertaining read.
