The longest most depressing book I’ve ever read

I finished it as a matter of principle but wish I hadn’t. I thought it would never end and it was just more of the same awful story. It was honestly hard to believe so many bad things could happen to one person.

I have loved all of Greg Iles’ books but this was unbelievable difficult to finish. The beloved character of Penn Cage was nearly unrecognizable in this book. I’m honestly at a loss to describe how awful (and ridiculously unbelievable) this book was. This will be my last book from this once-favorite author. The narration compounded the problem of an over-the-top plot and overly dramatic story.

Twisty turny legal thriller

Hadn’t read a good legal thriller in a while and this one was a perfect choice. Keeps you guessing and is a fun and thrilling story set at the Supreme Court.

I really really wanted to like this

I stuck it out until the end despite the terrible narration and disjointed organization of the story but it was just bad. Wish I could describe it more eloquently but it was just bad. I would never have thought this would have been written by the same author as Defending Jacob.

Boring and terrible narration

This is one of about 3 books I have ever not finished on audible. The story is so drawn out and boring that I don’t care what happens in the end. I couldn’t listen to Keisha’s voice another minute. The good reviews have me completely perplexed!!

Narrator drove me crazy

The narrator for Beth had such a strange way of pronouncing words that all I could do is fixate on her manner of speech. Good overall story but poor choice of narrator for Beth

Worst narration ever

I didn’t think I could make myself listen to the entire book given the awful narration. I thought the story might make it worthwhile in the end but this is honestly one of the worst books I’ve listened to in years. Expectations were super high going in and it was a complete disappointment. I found myself laughing and cringing alternately when the male narrator spoke. So so bad.
