If you are a fan of the miniseries, you owe it to yourself to read the book. It will weave together the complete story. Great job Mr. Ambrose.

I liked the continuity from the first in the series. There is maybe too much attention on Glass and Steele as it seemed Matt’s cohorts had a much reduced and clichéd role. Still a fine second volume.

I have to say that, most people cannot really imagine the horrible things people do to one another. Karin Slaughter certainly comes close in her books. This one can be hard to get through when you get to the details of the crimes. The hard truth is that, you need to get through it to understand what violence against women is really like.

Being from Atlanta

Great story with all the typical Slaughter grit. It was interesting to see Atlanta in 1975 through the author’s eyes. I have to say though that some of the facts used were not date accurate. Primary of those was the changes to the 404 area code which occurred later. I am also of the opinion that the challenges of being a female police officer in Atlanta were further along in being mitigated than portrayed. Still, the book fills in a lot of the questions about Will Trent.

I have read every Women’s Murder Club book thus far but the last few have not met the mark and this one is just poor. I don’t need the product placement or gratuitous descriptions of clothing. I barely finished this one.

Even though I live in the Atlanta area and was even in the park the day of the Bombing, there is so much I didn’t know about the event and it’s aftermath. Kent Alexander does a thorough job of laying out the entire story and leading us step by step along the torturous path to the eventual capture of the true culprit. There it all is, the warts, the trauma and the truth. Kent let’s you draw your own conclusions and let’s you see how the process worked from the inside. This is a great read and I highly recommend this book.

I love the Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James series but this one wasn’t quite all there. What bothers me most is the somewhat contrived way that the author weaves the past into this book. For those who know the series, it isn’t needed and for those who don’t, it needlessly drags things out. I’ll anxiously wait for the next volume and hope that it is better.

I found this book quite entertaining. From 1934 to 1975 Americans oils to own gold. Silly mistake. Still the book is nicely done in an old fashioned style.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the book but I felt that it wasn’t quite the story as previous efforts. Some of the action seemed contrived and people kept popping in and out of the story in the strangest ways. I am not sure if I should blame the author or the editor.

The book was well done but some of the author’s opinions seemed based on thin evidence. He also acts as an apologist for both Grant and Lee’s faults.

I the k he could have spent more time on the run up to, and battle of Gettysburg. The same goes for Cold Harbor to the siege of Petersburg.
