Solid story -likable and noble characters

Really have grown to appreciate the author's noble characters and clean writing style. You don't always have to overcomplicate a plot or deploy corinthian language. The Parthenon used doric columns and that worked out just fine. To Griff, love your novels on vikings and knight but especially found this Victorian era book very exciting.

Not his best- reminiscent of an evil blob

THE CHARACTERS WERE A LITTLE UNDER DEVELOPED NOT MUCH EMPATHY FOR THEM. CARTOONISH VERSION OF EVIL MORE LIKE AN AGILE VERSION OF THE BLOB. IN ADDITION, IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS A RUSHED.
Hopefully the follow-up installment will be better received. Shame really like the author no joy in providing this type of review

Holy string theory!

First, this is one of my top three series of all time. When the potential for time travel was introduced I thought it was a stretch but was carried off with wonderful craftsmanship. Regarding the ending- You've got to be kidding. Your ending created wild anticipation for the next book . It was like getting a rook back in an intense marathon chess game . what a cliffhanger, it reminded me of pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's chest ending .To the authors-you guys are cheeky monkeys. Please rush out the next book as you indicated. Or, consider mercifully provide a novella in the interim.

Was looking for something new. This author was recommended for fans of CJ Box. From now on I will also be looking for books for fans of John Hart. I was hooked in the first few minutes and very willing to spend my next credits on his other works

Love heros on the spectrum

Again, very likable characters, great plot, intriguing story, and a crisp plot line. So many times a great story is diminished by an artificially infused complicated plot yielding ambiguity instead of artistry. Not in this case. can't wait for the next book in the series

My first exposure to CJ Box

Really enjoyed the storyline and crisp clean writing style. Appreciated the development of the hero as a family man with solid enforcement skills guided by an extraordinary sense of purpose and morality. Probably Joe would lose a fight to Jason Bourne or the Gray Man but both of those guys would go running for the hills if they had to patiently take their kids shopping in a crowd or listen to an overly critical mother-in-law after a long day of solving mysteries in the wilderness. Go get em Joe.

top notch historical fiction

I can't believe I'm saying this but I love this series as much as anything I've listened to from Simon Scarrow and Bernard Cornwell with the exception of Sergeant Sharpe series from Cornwell and Eagles of the Empire from Scarrow

Wow this guy is like Hemingway

Great short stories for people who don't like short stories. Winslow has a style that is soulful, artfully textured and delivered with a reverence for economy of language similar to Hemingway's work. Not being hyperbolic in my praise or with the association to Ernest.
