Historia
At a time when the crises of income inequality, climate, and democracy are compounding to create epic wealth disparity and the prospect of a second American civil war, four billionaires are hyping schemes that are designed to divert our attention away from issues that really matter. Each scheme—the metaverse, cryptocurrency, space travel, and transhumanism—is an existential threat in moral, political, and economic terms. In The End of Reality¸ Jonathan Taplin provides perceptive insight into the personal backgrounds and cultural power of these billionaires.

I have no idea why this book has so few reviewers, it's absolutely eye-opening how big money controls the world today and will completely dominate in the future if there is not a course correction

Historia
Ambushed in Afghanistan and betrayed by their own leaders, these elite Marines fought for their lives again, back home. A cross between A Few Good Men and American Sniper, this is the true story of an elite Marine special operations unit bombed by an IED and shot at during an Afghanistan ambush. The Marine Commandos were falsely accused of gunning down innocent Afghan civilians following the ambush. The unit’s leader, Major Fred Galvin, was summarily relieved of duty, and his unit was booted from the combat zone.

After 10 years in the Air Force, I was stunned
Revisado: 03-01-23
This is an incredible story where powerful people in the military scapegoated an ambush seal team for their own twisted benefit. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Major Gavin, a true warrior, and a fantastic gentleman. His story is a must-read for anybody who was misled by the press, misstating that Afghan civilians were killed by the seal Maj Gavin lead, just for a sensation but an inaccurate story. It wasn't until I read the book that I understood just how wrong the media coverage was and how these brave Marines risked everything and didn't have the support of the government they should have had.
The narration was excellent!

Historia
Politicians and pundits on both sides of the aisle have accused Russia of interfering with our elections and our intelligence agencies. But the war Russia is waging against America is very different from anything you have heard in the press, as Russian-born US intelligence expert Rebekah Koffler reveals. In Putin’s Playbook, Koffler details how Vladimir Putin is orchestrating a wide-ranging, multifaceted campaign to retake his country’s role as a superpower and to defeat America in the process.

The book is biased and incorrect, don't buy!
Revisado: 02-28-22
Recommended by a friend, this author is not to be trusted. In the first few minutes, you hear "Trump/Russia collusion witchhunt," and that (falsely) the Mueller report vindicates Trump. The author then says that her ex-boss Michael Flynn was persecuted and is a great guy.
Don't bother buying this propaganda. I'm returning it.

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Not a sci-fi fan, but this is AMAZING
Revisado: 07-23-21
An incredible story, amazing narration, and a book that is just plain fun to listen to. This audible book, due to the outstanding narration, is much better than even reading the book!
Sci-fi is not typically something that I would pick, but this book has everything incredible science, incredible humanity, it will make you laugh, made you cry, a story I have so much depth a review can't give it the proper credit

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

This is a fantastic book, well research that will open your eyes to how restricting the growth of minorities restricts the growth of everyone and has the outcome of limiting our growth as a country in an increasingly completive world. Combined with the book Caste (Oprah's Book Club): The Origins of Our Discontents By Isabel Wilkerson, fills in US history you were never taught in school.

They say all politics is local. In 2020, Mitch McConnell will have served five full terms as a US Senator. Thirty years. The Senate Majority leader's power is as undeniable as it is infuriating, and the people of Kentucky have had enough. Led by Matt Jones, they (and they alone) have the power to oust him from office. How did Jones, a local boy turned attorney turned sports radio host come to shine the brightest light on McConnell's ineptitude?

An amazingly entertaining read, read by the author
Revisado: 01-17-21
I saw Matt Jones on the HBO Bill Maher program as a guest and he was a crack-up! I noticed he had a book and was surprised as both my wife and I ordered copies of Matt's book right after seeing him.
Don't start this book unless you have some time to listen to it, but because you won't be able to put it down. This is one case where Audible has the edge, hearing it read by the author is so much fun compared to just reading the book, although the book is phenomenal in its own right. It's an amazing and comical tour of various counties in Kentucky giving you a flavor of the country I never knew. Makes me want to visit some of these tiny towns!
I never knew why Mitch McConnell (AKA "The Turtle" or "Moscow Mitch" [Matt explains the funny names]) who is unliked in both Kentucky and throughout the United States yet was able to hold a decades-long position in the Senate. Mitch is the poster child for why we need term limits, and by reading this book you can see just how power and money have corrupted him. He's responsible for many of the ills including dark money in campaigns, tax cuts for the rich, all while screwing poorer Kentuckians, and blocking commonsense legislation. He calls himself the grim reaper since bills from the house go to the Senate to die under his tutelage.
Matt goes over the details on how such an unpopular man continues to retain power. I think it's an awesome read no matter what your political affiliation, you'll find things out that you've never known before, all while having fun finding it all out.
This one's a must-have!

Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

Explosive insights from a man who sold his soul...
Revisado: 09-11-20
I wasn’t a big Michael Cohen fan, but here’s a man who lost everything, his law license, his career, and almost his family as he blindly supported Trump for money and power.
He’s been in jail for something that Trump ordered him to do, pay off a porn star. He explained how he was used to blackmail people to get what Trump wanted; he paid to rig polls to show Trump worth more than he was while cheating countless vendors… the final straw that I can’t believe didn’t change him was when Trump hit on his 15-year-old daughter, despicable.
This book highlights an incredible tale of betrayal, corruption, and criminal intent, as Trump acted like a mob boss.
I’ve read multiple books about Trump from numerous sources, and clearly, there’s a pattern of dangerous incompetence and narcissistic lust for power.
