Historia
In a Philadelphia neighborhood rocked by the opioid crisis, two once-inseparable sisters find themselves at odds. One, Kacey, lives on the streets in the vise of addiction. The other, Mickey, walks those same blocks on her police beat. They don't speak anymore, but Mickey never stops worrying about her sibling. Then Kacey disappears, suddenly, at the same time that a mysterious string of murders begins in Mickey's district, and Mickey becomes dangerously obsessed with finding the culprit - and her sister - before it's too late.

Sappy story, monotonous reader
Revisado: 12-28-24
Story is heavy on family melodrama — boring. Reader is monotone & plodding. Can’t believe I stuck with it

Cloying & not a mystery in sight
Revisado: 12-14-24
If you’re looking for another charming mystery story, don’t waste your money. BUT, if you like mind-numbing, sugary romance where the bare-chested “hero” jumps up and down in his living room like an 8-year-old, you’re in the right place. The reader is excellent, as always. Here’s hoping she gets to perform a real story next time.

Revisado: 12-14-24
This was delightful. Dinklage is outstanding (as per usual), and the rest of the cast was fantastic, too. Please make more with these talented people.
MISOPHONIA ALERT: Anyone suffering should be prepared to mute or FF the beginning of Chapter 2. Eating noises. Note to producers: these noises are extremely disturbing to people who suffer from this condition. Best avoided.

Historia
This magnificent novel by one of America's finest writers is the epic of one man's remarkable journey, set in 19th-century America against the background of a vanishing people and a rich way of life. At the age of 12, under the Wind moon, Will is given a horse, a key, and a map, and sent alone into the Indian Nation to run a trading post as a bound boy. It is during this time that he grows into a man, learning, as he does, of the raw power it takes to create a life, to find a home.

Historia
All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.

Historia
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Historia
One afternoon in November 1975, ten-year-old Miranda Larkin comes home from school to find her house eerily quiet. Her mother is missing. Nothing else is out of place. There is no sign of struggle. Her mom’s pocketbook remains in the front hall, in its usual spot. So begins a mystery that will span a lifetime. What happened to Jane Larkin? Investigators suspect Jane’s husband. A criminal defense attorney, Dan Larkin would surely be an expert in outfoxing the police.

Torturous story & performance
Revisado: 08-13-23
Usually when there’s no mystery, you get to enjoy the chase as the protagonist finally catches the killer. Not here. No chase. No protagonists to speak of. Nothing to enjoy.
You know early on who did it, and the rest of the story is just hours of juvenile angst leading up to a absolutely nothing. Rife with misogyny, and the expected tropes that accompany it, there’s no chance you’ll like any of the characters. Miranda whines start to finish. So does Jeff. Alex, Jamie and Sara have no role in the story at all. All of them could be cut and it would have zero impact on the novel. The bit with the ring is supposed to be some shocking confirmation for Miranda, but we already know that’s coming; it was telegraphed early on. Plus, Miranda has gone from whiner, to dummy, to hopeless drunk & the only shock is that she’s shocked. And the fact that the writer gave her ONE, wholly ridiculous thing to say in that moment and had her repeat it 14 times is all you need to know about the creativity employed in this story.
The performance of Jeff’s sections was just hours of failed attempts at sarcasm and emotion. It was like listening to a teenager whine about everything for 10 hours. Torture.
Don’t waste your time.
