Historia
In the summer after graduating from college, Suleika Jaouad was preparing, as they say in commencement speeches, to enter “the real world”. She had fallen in love and moved to Paris to pursue her dream of becoming a war correspondent. The real world she found, however, would take her into a very different kind of conflict zone. It started with an itch - first on her feet, then up her legs, like a thousand invisible mosquito bites. Then a trip to the doctor and, a few weeks shy of her 23rd birthday, a diagnosis: leukemia, with a 35 percent chance of survival.

Full of tears and hope
Revisado: 01-31-23
I Love so much that the author narrated this - it was incredible to hear her story in her own voice. She had an incredible and terrible journey through cancer, treatment, more treatment, infections, hospitalizations, love and loss. It was heart wrenching and terribly sad at times, but inspirational and hopeful. I mostly loved the road trip at the end. The people she visited and the insights she gained.

This was hot and steamy and revealing as Nyktos and Serafina grow closer to each other. All of the prophecies and predictions start to be revealed but not completely understood. I was enthralled and couldn’t stop listening. The ending is a total cliffhanger and I already can’t wait for the next installment to be released.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

Absolutely Wonderful!
Revisado: 04-01-22
This World War II novel was heart wrenching and heartwarming. Grace Bennett moves to London just before England joins the War. She find work with a gruff old man at a bookshop in London. The book is about how the people of London persevere through bombings and war and loss and somehow survive intact. Grace grows to love London, her newly adopted family, and especially books. It is a beautiful take of how books can connect people and give us hope where all hope seemed lost. It’s also about the human spirit and the will to survive the hardest of hardships. I thought it was beautiful and poignant.

Captivating Grishaverse story
Revisado: 11-25-21
I feel like Alina’s story was necessary, but this didn’t end the way I thought it would - so many unpredictable moments in this book.
Alina and Mal are determined to find the third amplifier in order to defeat the Darkling. It seems like a dangerous mission, but they must first help Alina escape the underground tunnels so that she can use her power. She is so weak from no sun exposure and doesn’t even know the state of her power if she can get to the sunshine. Mal and her Grisha friends are determined to help. They make plans and carry them out. Their journey is not easy and Alina quickly learns that not everyone can be trusted.
Alina must deal with the mantle of leadership, betrayal, friendship, worship, greed, and death. She learns to fight for what she believes and believe in what she fights for, but her sacrifices are many and they may very well break her.

An intense novel of betrayal, lust, love, war, AMD ancient Gods! I could not stop listening! Poppy and Casteel cannot fight the draw to each other, but Poppy has no idea what between them is real and what is just for show. She is a pawn that both sides of the war want - but do they want to exploit her, destroy her, or love her? It’s an addicting series full of passion!

Completely obsessed with this series
Revisado: 05-25-21
I can’t get enough of Cat and Bones and their World! This book is listed as #5 in the Night Huntress series, but two other books in The Night Huntress World should precede this book so you aren’t confused about some of the events and references. So my recommendation is to read Night Huntress #4 and then A Drop of Crimson and Eternal Kiss of Darkness before reading Night Huntress #5. Just FYI
Anyway great performance!
In this book Bones and Cat find themselves once again in the brink of war. This time, a war between undead species. A wicked ghoul is trying to incite all ghouls to declare war on vampires and Cat is the reason. Cat and Bones have to outwit and outsmart everyone while dealing with emotional trauma and family issues. The action never stops. I loved it!

Heart Wrenching Tale
Revisado: 03-25-21
Let me stop my heart wrenching sobbing so I can write this review... This is such a remarkable tale of hardship, tribulation, survival, and triumph. It is also the story of a mother’s unconditional devotion and dedication to her children.
Elsa was undervalued and over criticized in her home growing up. She was considered an “Old Maid” at age 25 and not allowed to spread her wings. Her family disowned her and discarded her when she tried. She was given a new hope and new life when she became a mother to Loretta. She found the mother she loved and needed in her in laws and was too busy working hard to regret was never was with her own mother. Elsa worked hard and was completely devoted to her husband and his family and their farm. She worked from sun up to sun down, but could not control Mother Nature or the economic climate of the 1930s in America.
Dust storms turned the Great Plains into a Dust Bowl and farmers were left with nothing but dry barren land to live on. The land quit providing, and families were starving. There was a massive migration to California to try to find work and “the land of milk and honey.”
Elsa had to fight tooth and nail to keep her family fed and clothed. There was so much stacked against her, but she had to find her own worth and her own voice.
This book is largely about the Dust Bowl and Great Depression, but it’s also about a mother-daughter relationship and bond. To see what a mother would do for her children was inspiring and beautiful. The love of a mother knows no bounds. There are no limits to the lengths a mother would go for her children.

Historia
Bayr of Saylok, bastard son of a powerful and jealous chieftain, is haunted by the curse once leveled by his dying mother. Bartered, abandoned, and rarely loved, she plagued the land with her words: From this day forward, there will be no daughters in Saylok. Raised among the Keepers at Temple Hill, Bayr is gifted with inhuman strength. But he’s also blessed with an all-too-human heart that beats with one purpose: to protect Alba, the first girl child born in nearly two decades and the salvation for a country at risk.

Incredible
Revisado: 03-12-21
Everything I’ve read by Amy Harmon is simply amazing! This book is no exception. She weaves a tale that draws me in and keeps me in rapture. Her words are melodious and her characters become part of me. In this book, Dagmar is a Keeper of the runes and brother to a Warrior woman who curses the land of Saylok with her life’s blood as she bleeds out following the birth of her son Bayr. There will be no girl children in the land of Saylok- that is her curse. But in cursing the land, she also blesses her fatherless son to be Saylok’s salvation. Bayr grows under the care of Dagmar in the temple of the keepers and becomes strong and powerful, but stutters. He uses his strength to protect the only girl, Alba, born in Saylok in over almost a decade. Bayr is good and pure in heart, but is despised by the King, Alba’s supposed father. Bayr and Alba form an incredible bond that binds them in a way neither fully understands until they are grown.
This book is sooo good - a cursed land, a wicked king, lies deceit, and a boy with the bravest heart in the land. I loved it!
