Scam is the story of how a wannabe gangster and his stoner friends, a muscle bound enforcer with marital problems, a sexy house sitter, and some fake cops lives intertwine based on a hilarious scam. Jonathan thinks he has come across the crime of a lifetime that will set him up forever. With the “help” of some stoner friends what he thinks will be an easy heist comically lands him in a whole lot of trouble. Meanwhile, Nuke and Three, muscle for psychotic drug lords, has to find out what happened to the “package” while dodging fake cops who should be on Broadway instead of shaking down Nuke. Combine that with Nuke’s wife who is unhappy with the marriage, a new neighbor that befriends her and catches Nuke’s eye, and Three trying to “counsel” Nuke you end up with a story that will keep you listening and laughing.

The story is easy to listen to, laugh out loud funny, and kept me guessing all the way till the end. The narrator brought to life each character and you could get a great feel for their personalities. I hope that this title will be created into a series.

After book #1, I was hooked.

The Priscilla Pratt Mysteries is set in a time where Vampires (and other magical creatures) have secured their independence and freedom from hiding. They live and work in the world just like everyone else. Priscilla owns a bakery called Fangs and Fondant but she has a knack for stumbling upon dead bodies so spends a lot of her time solving the murder. The cast of characters are well developed and the storyline is never boring. Each book seems to introduce you to a new character and many of the characters stick around for multiple books. The book is very funny, I love Priscilla's fairy godmother, easy to listen to, and keeps you in suspense. I started the book and listened for 12 hours straight. The only negative I had was that the reading was very slow at speed 1x but I switched it to speed 1.25x and it was perfect. Melissa Monroe has definitely made a new loyal fan and I look forward to reading more Priscilla Pratt Mysteries. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Laugh out loud and keeps you guessing

What did you love best about Unzipped?

Unzipped was very funny and kept me engaged for the entire book. The character of Chrissy McMullen was over the top and her internal musings made me laugh out loud.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chrissy McMullen was a spunky character that had a knack for finding trouble. She had a can't be stopped personality that kept the story moving at a great pace. Her over the top personality worked well with the laid back demeanor of love interest Jack Rivera.

What about Barbara Benjamin-Creel’s performance did you like?

Barbara Benjamin-Creel's performance was probably the best part of the audio-book. All the different character voices and inflections were perfect for their personalities and helped develop their characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Many times I laughed out-loud during this book at the antics of Chrissy and her interactions with love interest Jack Rivera.

Any additional comments?

Although I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I have already downloaded and am reading the second book in the series, Unplugged.

Holiday romance and Christmas magic

What did you love best about Tinsel in a Tangle?

I loved the detail given to the class levels among the residents of the North Pole and the intricate explanation of how North Pole life was. Laurie Germaine paints a very vivid picture of what the North Pole looks like and talking reindeer was an added perk.

What other book might you compare Tinsel in a Tangle to and why?

Tinsel in a Tangle reminded me a whole lot of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Tinsel was constantly getting into messes, has a secret crush on someone she shouldn't, and has to use her skill to solve a mystery.

Which character – as performed by Angie Hickman – was your favorite?

I love Angie Hickman's performance of the reindeer. The accents were so believable and their voices really helped you to understand their unique personalities.

Any additional comments?

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. Although a little predictable at times, Tinsel in a Tangle was a fun and easy read. Laurie Germain's book was free of bad language and adult situations but had plenty of intrigue and romance. I would highly recommend.

Pulls you back to life during Old Testament times.

What did you love best about The Serpent and the Staff?

I loved the detailed account of how life might have been like during Old Testament Biblical times. Even though it was so long ago, there was love, intrigue, murder, corrupt government, war, many of the same problems and blessings that we have today.

Have you listened to any of Jane Oppenheimer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first time to hear Jane Oppenheimer but her performance and the great storyline kept me intrigued and interested. I listen when I run and many times I would keep running so I could hear more of the story.

Who was the most memorable character of The Serpent and the Staff and why?

Leah, she was very smart and bold for a woman living in those times. She was able to take information she learned and use it to help her out of several predicaments that could have cost her and her family dearly.

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. If you want a great read without having to worry about language or adult situations you should listen to The Serpent and the Staff. I will be listening to Barbara Wood again in the near future.

Love the over the top characters and duel plot

Would you listen to Prosecco Pink again? Why?

I loved this Frankie Amato audio book. The story is funny, the characters are over the top, and the mystery keeps you guessing till the very end. I love mysteries that have duel plots and this one does not disappoint. Although I was gifted this copy in exchange for my honest review, I am buying the first one in the series because I liked it so much. If you are a fan of Janet Evanovich you will really enjoy reading this series by Traci Andrighetti.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The book really kept you guessing till the very end. Even when I thought I had it figured out I was wrong.

What does Madeline Mrozek bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The characters are over the top and their personalities really came to life through the reading of Madeline Mrozek

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh out loud in several places.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The book Polly by Stephen Goldin is a very thought provoking book written in a way that keeps you laughing and guessing at who Polly actually is. Herodutus Shapiro meets Polly Perfect through a series of business and personal disasters that have him ready to give up on life. Through this chance meeting he learns more about life than he had ever conceived before. This book is funny, irreverent, and thought provoking. The audio book version was read well and really brought out the personalities of the characters. I read this book while running and increased my distance because I wanted to keep listening. “I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audio book by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

What did you like best about this story?

The story was funny and quirky but well written.

What does Joe Hempel bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The personalities of the characters were really brought out by Joe Hempel. Polly's deadpan humor was hilarious and the life stories of her other guests were expressed in a way that I really felt for them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I read it while running and found myself upping my mileage to get to listen to more.
