Historia
Maid-of-honor Emilia is looking for some stress-busting fun the night before her best friend’s wedding. And what’s more fun than a no-strings hookup? Good thing there’s an app for that, and she’s in luck - the sexy stud she swipes right on is more than happy to fulfill all her sexual needs. Her hot night with “Dirk” is everything she knew it would be. But this morning? He looks a hell of a lot like the groom.

Historia
As a Hillary voter, a New York Times reporter, and frequent attendee at her local gay bars, Nellie Bowles fit right in with her San Francisco neighbors and friends—until she started questioning whether the progressive movement she knew and loved was actually helping people. When her colleagues suggested that asking such questions meant she was “on the wrong side of history,” Bowles did what any reporter worth her salt would do: she started investigating for herself. The answers she found were stranger—and funnier—than she expected.

Historia
For Landon Stackhouse, being called up from the Calgary farm team is exciting and terrifying, even if, as the backup goalie, he rarely leaves the bench. A quiet loner by nature, Landon knows he gives off strong “don’t talk to me” vibes. The only player who doesn’t seem to notice is Calgary’s superstar young winger, Casey Hicks. Casey treats Landon like an old friend, even though they’ve only interacted briefly in the past. He’s endlessly charming and completely laid-back in a way that Landon absolutely can’t relate to.

Huge disappointment
Revisado: 10-15-23
The characters are stereotypes and there is no tension. It lacks all the aspects that make Heated Rivalry a 5 star read.

It was never meant to be more than a dare: A party game. A dare. A single kiss. That’s all it took to flip my world upside down. I’ve always classified myself as straight, and as far as I can tell, so has he. I didn’t think one kiss would change that, but I was so wrong. Now, I can’t stop thinking about him. My best friend. Aspen. His taste is branded in my memory, his touch seared in my skin. And I want more. Which is why I start tossing out new dares. Riskier ones that toe lines we never thought we’d cross. But there’s so much more at stake here. Like my heart.

Boring and repetitive
Revisado: 09-27-23
I love M/M friends to lovers and especially when one is a jock so I as eager to read this. It was a complete disappointment! Very little tension, very little plot and too much sex (which somehow manages to be boring). The only interesting part was counting how many times they said “best friend.”

A good story

Lots of potential and an interesting plot but ultimately the main character remains underdeveloped and there story doesn’t have any sort of satisfying climax or resolution.

Historia
Jews Don’t Count is a book for people who consider themselves on the right side of history. People fighting the good fight against homophobia, disablism, transphobia and, particularly, racism. People, possibly, like you. It is the comedian and writer David Baddiel’s contention that one type of racism has been left out of this fight. In his unique combination of close reasoning, polemic, personal experience and jokes, Baddiel argues that those who think of themselves as on the right side of history have often ignored the history of anti-Semitism.

Excellent book which does a brilliant job of spanning hundreds of years to construct her argument about bodies and race and gender. It’s an absorbing read while simultaneously being full of facts and complex philosophical points.

Revisado: 05-06-22
I was so excited for this sequel. Heated Rivalry is my favorite romance. This book is a bit boring. There is no real tension and too many sex scenes. Overall the book is too long. Usually I love Cooper North’s narration but I did not like how he did the Russian accent.

I’m a rookie, in every sense of the word. But even though I have a wicked crush on the sexy shortstop on my baseball team, I won’t give in to my fantasies about him. I’m here in the majors for the first time to play ball. Not to experience my first time with a man. Trouble is, Declan Steele is sexy, flirty, and now he’s my new workout partner. We’re spending mornings together in the gym, getting to know each other. Our connection is powerful—maybe because we each have our fair share of secrets and scars. Ones we'll both fight to protect.

The narration is excellent but the story is unimaginative and simply meanders with almost not development. And the ending comes out of nowhere and simply sets the reader up to read book 2 which I won’t do because I don’t care enough about these character. So much potential and so disappointing!

Very disappointing!
Revisado: 02-22-22
I really enjoy Avon Gale and especially her Scoring Chances series. This book was underdeveloped and frustrating. Even for a novella it was too brief and there was not enough character development. Overall the plot was predictable and the characters uninteresting. The narrator was awful! For the most part her sounded like a robot and when he had to do voices they were not done well. One of the main characters was voiced as a whiny child. This novella was a waste of time and money. I hope Avon gale writes another full length hockey book soon.
