Great micro stories you'll always remember! Great narration
Revisado: 12-22-23
Came upon the author on TikTok and loved his stories and storytelling. The book was so fun with his personal, funny, and sad experiences with celebrities and people in his life from Keith Richards to Joan Rivers, Very quick and entertaining chapters. Found myself laughing, gagging (Barbie), and so sad for the alcoholic. These stories were fun, quick glimpses into his interesting life. Excellent narrator. I hope you enjoy.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Finlay Donovan is killing it...except, she’s really not. The new book she promised her literary agent isn’t written, her ex-husband fired the nanny without telling her, and this morning she had to send her four-year-old to school with hair duct-taped to her head.

Not killing much

The narration was great. I was expecting more killing haha. It ended up being more of a romance novel. Had to speed it up near the end. Enjoyable and light.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

This was a lot of fun albeit at first I was kinda rolling my eyes, like this would be a very short story if I were Millie. Not too deep so I practiced increasing the speed to 2.5-3.0 gradually. The story draws you in and doesn't leave you hanging for too long. You want to know what happens next! Great narration.

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

A Personal Look at the Death Penalty in Action
Revisado: 12-30-10
Excellent narrator.
Reminded me of Governor George Ryan of Illinois and his last minute decision to put a moratorium on the death penalty in his state.
A story about a young, black, man bullied into a false confession to a murder he did not commit. The real killer confesses to a pastor who attempts to do the right thing but keeps running into obstacles. The innocent young man will be put to death in a few days and it's a race against time. Along the way, Grisham weaves in the story lines of the mothers and other characters involved.

Learned valuable techniques
Revisado: 04-21-06
I learned many techniques that have helped me disengage with some difficult co-workers. The book teaches you how to identify personality traits around you - and challenges you to find yourself in there. How to appease difficult co-workers if you absolutely have to work with them. This gives back your power because in a way you're manipulating and placating them to make their insecure selves feel more important while you walk away rolling your eyes and enjoying the workplace more - well that's what I took from that section anyway. Great, quick audiobook.
