Great book. Insightful and the case scenarios were also helpful. Informative with gentleness. I appreciated the prompts provided to allow further introspection. I also appreciated that diverse perspectives expressed in the book. Very helpful in one’s journey of personal growth and healing.

Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Wow! Absolutely inspiring ❤️

Speechless! I enjoyed absolutely everything about this book! From the emotion in Viola Davis’ voice as she read to the level of titanium resilience she had to the infinite gems of inspiration given to the unapologetic empowerment of the essence of a Black woman in her multi-perspective identity…. I have always loved Viola Davis as an actress… but this “self-help” book about facing traumas and learning to love oneself through her personal narratives displays her authentic leadership. Her vulnerability shows her beauty.
This book is a MUST READ. There are so many complex topics explored in this book that inspires one to continue to be present and continue to work on the best versions of themselves.
Absolutely loved it!

Historia
The emotional trauma we suffer as children not only shapes our emotional lives as adults but also affects our physical health and overall well-being. Scientists now know on a biochemical level exactly how parents' chronic fights, divorce, death in the family, being bullied or hazed, and growing up with a hypercritical, alcoholic, or mentally ill parent can leave permanent, physical "fingerprints" on our brains.
