Historia
Julia Ames, after a youth marked by upheaval and emotional turbulence, has found herself on the placid plateau of mid-life. But Julia has never navigated the world with the equanimity of her current privileged class. Having nearly derailed herself several times, making desperate bids for the kind of connection that always felt inaccessible to her, she finally feels, at age fifty seven, that she has a firm handle on things. She’s unprepared, though, for what comes next.

Beautiful writing and honest
Revisado: 10-19-24
This is my favorite book of the year! The writing and story absorbed me within the first 5 minutes of listening. A beautiful character driven portrait of marriage, parenthood, friendship, pain, love, loss, life - all of it! The good, bad, ugly and joy of living a life as best we can with what we have. . . So honest . . . I loved it. And the narrator was absolutely amazing!!!

Historia
This pioneering account sets out to understand the structure of the human brain - the place where mind meets matter. Until recently, the left hemisphere of our brain has been seen as the "rational" side, the superior partner to the right. But is this distinction true? Drawing on a vast body of experimental research, Iain McGilchrist argues while our left brain makes for a wonderful servant, it is a very poor master.

Too technical, dry, monotone
Revisado: 07-15-24
This book could have been great! But it needed a lot of editing and should have been written so the ordinary person could understand it. . .

Awful writing, boring, inconsistent
Revisado: 07-12-24
Very boring . . . Could have been so much better but it was slow paced, mistakes made, and overall a waste of time

Convoluted and Boring at the same time!
Revisado: 04-23-24
This was hard to follow and boring. . . I had to keep going back because I kept daydreaming. The narrator sounded like she was whispering. . . Ugh !!! I do not understand all of the good reviews.

Historia
There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, his and hers. Which means someone is always lying. When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation. Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.

I love this author and was very much looking forward to this novel. It was a struggle to finish . . , somewhat condescending and very slow. I will continue to read books by this author but this one was a miss for me :-(

Perfect Summer Read !!!!
Revisado: 07-22-20
I’ve read several books by this author but this is my favorite by far. The characters are rich and relatable. . . Sincere without being syrupy. Perfect book to get you through these long hot days.
I found myself thinking back to what I was doing all of these summers. I’m about the same age as the protagonist, which made it even more fun. I remember watching the movie Same Time Next Year . . . It’s a great concept and wonderful theme for a book. I’m sad to see the story end :-(
