I am truly so very happy this book exists. I cried, smiled, cried more, and I know I'll never forget Adunni and all the brilliant girls trying to find their own louding voices.

This book dragged on and on, and after awhile, it got really old that Christophe just couldn't seem to figure out that Joshua only wanted what was best for Christophe. Jesmyn's way of describing the scenery, the town, the physical characteristics of each character, was absolutely brilliant, however. With that, I'm off to listen to Salvage the Bones.

I read/listened to Yangsze Choo's "The Ghost Bride" first, although "The Night Tiger" was on my Audible wishlist longer. While I liked "The Ghost Bride" better, Yangsze Choo's writing and wonderful narration still captivated me nonetheless. I love how everything was connected to everything else, and the slick reference to characters from "The Ghost Bride" early on in this book. It made me glad that I read them in the order in which I did.

I don't even know what what to say. I DESPISE the fantasy genre; I think it's stupid. But this? This book? It was absolutely enchanting and I am so glad I have it a chance, and the author, Yangsze Choo, has such a dreamy, lovely voice that is so fitting for such a novel. Her notes at the end were much appreciated and informative.

Off to listen to "The Night Tiger!"
