Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Martin Stillwater has a vivid imagination. It charms his loving wife, delights his two little daughters, and gives him all the inspiration he needs to write his highly successful mystery novels. But maybe Martin’s imagination is a bit too vivid.

I really liked it. I woul love sequel "Mr. Gault".
Revisado: 06-06-22
I had a good time listening to this novel. Quotes from the Book of Counted Sorrows were terrific. I learned there is no real novel by that name but Koontz has written a book with many quotes calling it that. Nice touch.

it is a different kind of heroine, and a different spin on military action. would love it on the big screen, especially Holly in the last fight of the book.

Nineteen-year-old Nayeli works at a taco shop in her Mexican village and dreams about her father, who journeyed to the US to find work. Recently it has dawned on her that he isn't the only man who has left town. In fact there are almost no men in the village - they've all gone north. While watching The Magnificent Seven, Nayeli decides to go north herself and recruit seven men - her own "Siete Magníficos" - to repopulate her hometown and protect it from the bandidos who plan on taking it over.

Unique heroes and a fantasy given realism.
Revisado: 11-19-19
A wonderful and unique story, but a basic fantasy given a life. Truly a feel good yarn. Credible characters of great natures, from junk yard boys, pristinely clean Catholic school girls coming of age, border agents tired of excessive power, sneaky bastards and aged heroes who raised the school girls on a mission to retrieve men who immigrated to the USA. Wonderful travels, a fresh and colorful eye, a bit poorly pruned in its start but started at a good place, and abruptly ended leaving a want, but a good want and a good place to end. Worth reading second time, and worth sharing. The reader gets better and better as the story progresses, as the character emerge. Just a darling of a Novel.

Historia
In his final days, beloved and ailing patriarch Miguel Angel de La Cruz, affectionately called Big Angel, has summoned his entire clan for one last legendary birthday party. But as the party approaches, his mother, nearly 100, dies herself, leading to a farewell doubleheader in a single weekend. Among the guests is Big Angel's half-brother, known as Little Angel, who must reckon with the truth that although he shares a father with his siblings, he has not, as a half gringo, shared a life. Across two bittersweet days in their San Diego neighborhood, the revelers mingle.

Eat with the Angel's, love with the Angel's.
Revisado: 10-28-19
I thought the Hummingbirds Daughter was the best ever, but this family is so full if charisma and machismo and simple love that it becomes heroically powerful to me, and makes this gringo want to starve like the Angels, love like the Angels, fight like the Angels, and die like the Angel. Thank you for another masterwork.

Artistically written
Revisado: 10-13-19
I repeated portions many times because of the beauty of the writing and conveyance of the words. Thank you for the 20 years you put into this very beautiful, poignant, mystrrious, joy and love filled, and rough life you brought to pages and pages with beautiful lyricism by your reader, who is also an artist with special gifts.
