cute and funny
Revisado: 08-04-22
if you are looking for a story that doesn't take itself too seriously, this is it. It is serious at times, silly other times in just the right amount to make the book interesting. I think it is a pretty realistic look at what the average person would experience if a fast spreading Zombie plague broke out.

Some decent info wrapped in a war story
Revisado: 01-29-19
The authors do a good job of narrating this book. It probably adds a bit to the feel of the book for the authors to relay the stories. That said, they start the book saying that the book is not intended to be a historical record, which is true, but some of the war stories are told in much more detail than is necessary to get the point across for a book on leadership which is intended to be used in both the military and business worlds. This was, overall, an enjoyable enough book. There are some good points made about leadership in here, but I think I would probably prefer the print book so I can skip through some of the stories and get to the more important bits. Yes, sometimes the stories do help make a point, but I didn't find that was always the case and as mentioned before, the stories tended to get a little longer than probably necessary to make the point. Overall, if I knew someone who might want a leadership book and also likes war stories, I'd recommend this book to them. It's not for everyone though.

Every leader must be ready and willing to take charge, to make hard, crucial calls for the good of the team and the mission. Something much more difficult to understand is that in order to be a good leader, one must also be a good follower. This is a dichotomy - a Dichotomy of Leadership. It is, as authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin explained in their best-selling first audiobook, Extreme Ownership, “Simple, Not Easy”.

Not bad, but nothing really new. Painful narration
Revisado: 01-29-19
I listened to both this book and their first book, Extreme ownership. I'm not sure what happened, but the first book had pretty good narration by the authors. In this one, I had a really hard time pushing my way through it. The authors are barking out sentences without any real flow or feeling. There are also really long pauses between each sentence. So long that I had to set the narration speed at 1.5x just to tolerate the book and get through it. It should be noted that the narration time for this book is significantly longer than Extreme Ownership even though that first book is a longer book. As for the content, you'll likely find something interesting in here. The general approach is balance. I find that the battle stories only sometimes help them make the points they are trying to make to help you with leadership, especially if you are in the business world. If you a businessperson and picking this up to help you, I'd say that maybe 10-20% might be useful. It's not a bad book, just not something I'd recommend to others.

Some of the stories were excellent
Revisado: 06-12-17
What did you like best about Sci-Fi & Fantasy Erotica: Volume 1? What did you like least?
A few of these stories were really good. Erotica or not, they were truly creative and interesting stories. Some of the stories stretch the label of "erotica" pretty thin though. One of them shouldn't be included in an erotica book at all. The stories were all over the place, which added to the variety, but some of the scenes which should have been hot turned out to be lukewarm at best. The narration was sort of flat as well. Her voice is actually quite pleasant to listen to, but there was a lack of excitement and emotion, especially when the scenes called for it. Good narration for this book might have made up for some of the more lackluster written scenes and made the good ones amazing.

Narration sort of killed it
Revisado: 06-12-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not. While some of the stories were actually pretty good, some even unique and interesting, the narration was almost painful to listen to much of the time. I assume it is because someone coached them to read it the way they all did,
What didn’t you like about the narrators’s performance?
The narration was so distracting that it actually threw cold water on the story. Since all the narrators read exactly the same way, I have to assume they were told to read it that way. Annunciation of every word and using a hard "a" any time an "a" appears in a sentence is not a natural way to speak, so it detracts from the story. I've heard technical presentations which were read less formally than this. Sadly, some of the stories were actually pretty good, but the odd way in which the narrator (often the author) read it made it hard to listen to. Also at times, the narrator (I think it was usually Ginger) would start the story with the classic high pitch "bimbo" sort of sound, then it would get dropped somewhere along the way and she would go back to her normal voice. Her own voice was fine, so there really wasn't a need to attempt to do something different, especially when it would not be held for the whole story (not that I'd want it to). Whoever told these ladies to read it the way they did needs to stop. It could have been so much better if they were simply allowed to read the stories in a more casual fashion. Also, during the "exciting" bits of the stories, there just wasn't always the excitement or emotion that there should be to really draw you in.
Any additional comments?
I found it interesting that these stories were written by women. I actually went back and checked after I had listened to probably half the book, because it didn't have the feel of erotica written by women. Little emphasis on anything other than penetration in many cases.

Interesting idea, Lukewarm narration
Revisado: 06-12-17
Would you try another book from Piers Anthony and/or Steven Cooper?
I am a big fan of Piers Anthony, but the text of this story doesn't match the quality of many of his other works. It seems to be written to maybe an early teen audience, though some of the scenes are definitely not what would be written to that audience. The ideas in it are actually pretty interesting, but it needs another pass with the pen before it'll be up to the level of writing it should be.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Steven Cooper?
Not sure that I would. Many of the characters seemed rather flat. I certainly wasn't drawn into the story as I am by other narrators. I would definitely have to listen to a sample of another book read by him before jumping in.
