Historia
When André de Ruyter took over as Eskom CEO in January 2020, he quickly realised why it was considered the toughest job in South Africa. Aside from neglected equipment, ageing power stations and an eroded skills base, he discovered that Eskom was crippled by corruption on a staggering scale. De Ruyter takes the listener inside the boardrooms and government meetings where South Africa’s future is shaped, with ministers often pulling in conflicting directions, and candidly reflects on his three years at the power utility.

Insightful and thought provoking

Thank you to the author for the insights in this book. The honesty really helps provide some context to the nonsensical news reports that we’ve lived with in the last few years.

This book is packed with practical tips and advice which I found very easy to relate to. I have read this book a few times and the audiobook experience has helped me revisit the content.
Note: there are some problems with the chapter marks which overlap across the first few chapters. Once you get past step 2 its fine

Historia
When 30-year-old Dean Nicholson set off from Scotland to cycle around the world, his aim was to learn as much as he could about our troubled planet. But he hadn't bargained on the lessons he'd learn from his unlikely companion. Three months after leaving home, on a remote road in the mountains between Montenegro and Bosnia, he came across an abandoned kitten. Something about the piercing eyes and plaintive meowing of the bedraggled little cat proved irresistible.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow - and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on. For Harry, this is that story at last.

Really good book
Revisado: 01-20-23
I think the book is well written and it is refreshing to hear Harry’s story in his own words. As with every family feud, perspective makes a big difference. There seems to have been a lot of nit-picking in the news on some of the facts in this book. I would say, listen to him with an open mind and then decide what you believe is true. This is his perspective and his memories.
What is clear, Harry’s lived experience and his personal perspective is somewhat different from what other books on the subject portray. The topic remains contentious.
It’s a really good narrative with some parts more believable than others

It’s happening again - people are disappearing. And just like before, the finger is pointed at Becca. She knows how it looks...and that she’s being set up. Someone is following her. Sneaking into her house. Planting evidence to make her look guilty. The problem is, she has no idea why. The bigger problem is, no one believes her. And time is running out.

Good story, but boy is the lead character frustrating
Revisado: 04-09-22
I really loved this whole series. The story line is brilliant but I found myself really annoyed when the lead character in this book. This one she came across as indecisive, and just walked right into dumb situations. She overthinks everything (more so that what’s needed for the story.) I enjoyed her a lot more in the first two books.
If you can ignore Becca’s bad decision making through the second half of the book, there’s a good ending in store.

I absolutely loved this book. If you’re someone with any technology in your life and you’re on social media or online, you need to read this book. Edward Snowden’s story is mind boggling and moving. He has sacrificed so much to do the right thing. 😃 I am also amazed at how much I could relate to his upbringing and his love of tech. His story reminded me of my own journey of discovery and the wonder of getting to know the World Wide Web. His insights on the state of technology and the Internet are thought provoking and I believe quite accurate. 5 stars for this book!

Historia
She was known to the world as Emily Doe when she stunned millions with a letter. Brock Turner had been sentenced to just six months in county jail after he was found sexually assaulting her on Stanford's campus. Her victim impact statement was posted on Buzzfeed, where it instantly went viral - viewed by 11 million people within four days, it was translated globally and read on the floor of Congress; it inspired changes in California law and the recall of the judge in the case.
