Historia
Levi Yoder is a member of the Mafia and a fixer of people's problems. He takes on issues where the law is otherwise unable to help. Unfortunately, Levi can't fix the problem he's facing. Having been diagnosed with a terminal case of cancer, Levi readies himself for death, but what he didn't prepare himself for was waking up one morning and learning that he's in complete remission. Perimeter is a story of a man thrust back into a life he'd assumed was over.

A tepid mess
Revisado: 01-14-25
This was a bland stew of a triller-a pharaoh’s curse, a nuclear bomb, the mafia and CIA, oriental mysticism, evil Russians and an anemic love story—all told without conviction or heart. The narrator, however, actually sung Puccini rather well at one point, so I’ll give him high marks for that.

His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk. A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

Reacher has run out of gas
Revisado: 11-05-24
Wooden and contrived. The plot was phoned in. I’ve loved Reacher over the years. How has he now managed to become boring—no thrills, no dramatic tension, no heart.

Wherever Sean Drummond goes, it seems that the JAG officer leaves a trail of political fallout in his wake. So when his superiors get an opportunity to loan him to a prestigious law firm, they jump on it, hoping he'll soak up the nuances of civilian lawyering. Paper thin hero and dialogue
Revisado: 04-18-24
Characters are flat, dialogue pedestrian. Every action of the heroes has to be given a tiresome exposition of how much danger, how much courage and how much is at stake. And the cliches—omg—“…up shit creek without a paddle.” Or writing such as, after getting hit in the gut, Trap’s “breath is stolen from his impossibly fit body!” Yuck

Bitch and Marleen and series are back on track with a good legal thriller, after some previous diversions into whacky conspiracies and complicated goofiness. Still love the characters.

Historia
Joe Pike didn't expect to rescue a woman that day. He went to the bank same as anyone goes to the bank, and returned to his Jeep. So when Isabel Roland, the lonely young teller who helped him, steps out of the bank on her way to lunch, Joe is on hand when two men abduct her. Joe chases them down, and the two men are arrested. But instead of putting the drama to rest, the arrests are only the beginning of the trouble for Joe and Izzy.

Damsel in distress
Revisado: 10-18-23
The plot of this thriller is, as so many any are, improbable. Yet an author can often pull it off if the characters are engaging. But the proverbial damsel-in-distress is so utterly annoying and complaining and downright stupid, that it is obvious she will be her own worst enemy, nearly getting herself and those around her killed by not submitting to the sage advice of the hero, Joe Pike. Irritating read.

Historia
The bodies are found in towns and cities around Puget Sound. The young women who are the victims had nothing in common - except the agony of their final moments. But somebody carefully chose them to stalk, capture, and torture...a depraved killer whose cunning is matched only by the depth of his bloodlust. But the dying has only just begun. And the next victim will be the most shocking of all....

Another ridiculous serial killer story
Revisado: 06-05-23
No mystery, gratuitous gore and an implausible, contradictory story line. The serial killer calls his sister in law over and over to tell her about the murders, she dates a lead investigator in the murders, and for ridiculous reasons, she doesn’t pass along info. Sister in law, journalist, somehow doesn’t make connection to all murders she is connected to. Nobody makes any of the obvious connections. Gets dumber and nastier as the clown show tale wanders to its inevitable climax. Waste.Of.Time.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. Contrived plot, pasteboard characters
Revisado: 05-31-23
A comically idiotic conspiracy combined with annoying dialogue and cutout characters. I usually give some credit to audio performers for at least making a bad book listenable, but there was no help for this one.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.
