Historia
One of the most significant problems that every human being has to face is knowing how to handle judgments, negative-self talk, emotional outrage, anger outburst, self-deception, conflicts at home, work and socially, and feeling powerless. Meticulously researched and written by Tony Jeton Selimi, The Unfakeable Code® helps you explore the fierce scientific, psychological, and spiritual impact of wearing "masks", feeling stuck, powerless, out of control, and being a people pleaser, disengaged and unproductive at home and work.

Not what I hoped...
Revisado: 05-16-23
"Embrace who you are and take off your "mask" made for an intriguing 'want to read' emotion, especially as being our authentic selves is a topic of high interest to myself. However, that being said, I struggled to get past the poor sentence structure and redundantly flowery language. This might be a preferred style for many people, it just isn't my preferred style of self improvement. I struggled to see the validity of such an approach for businesses. It felt geared more toward personal self improvement. Selimi went all around in various repetitive phrases trying to make a single point and that is not typically an effective business language style. It was a short and simple read, and that may be an excellent intro to those unfamiliar with authenticity principles. If that sounds like you, enjoy!

Historia
When Vivien Walker left her home in the Mississippi Delta, she swore never to go back, as generations of the women in her family had. But in the spring, nine years to the day since she'd left, that's exactly what happens - Vivien returns, fleeing from a broken marriage and her lost dreams for children. What she hopes to find is solace with "Bootsie", her dear grandmother who raised her, a Walker woman with a knack for making everything all right. But instead she finds that her grandmother has died and that her estranged mother is drifting further away from her memories.

way too many non-compelling characters
Revisado: 08-16-20
this book took way too long to get started, very cliche and predictable, I've never read this author before and now I know I won't again- It seems more like it was intended for a young adult audience

Historia
Molly Wells is keeping a lot of secrets, such as why she's stolen her ex-husband's expensive stallion and driven him hundreds of miles to the ranch of horse whisperer Jake Coulter and why she's arrived with no job, no money, and an all-consuming fear. Molly may be willing to risk everything to save the stallion, but it's herself she really needs to save. By making a place for Molly on his ranch, Jake suspects that he may be harboring a thief. But there's something about this courageous, yet vulnerable, woman that tugs on his heartstrings.

Needed different narrator
Revisado: 05-10-20
Struggled to finish this mostly because narrator's imitation of male voices, especially Jake's voice was really challenging to listen to, made my skin crawl. This is one story I probably should have read myself rather than listen to..

Revisado: 01-02-19
Wow! What a HUGE waste of time and money. This is a collection of really bad stories with an even worse narration. Publisher's summary is COMPLETELY misleading. I should have checked more thoroughly before believing this was a book for Leaders. It's like a collection of weak fairy tales. I bought the hard cover, kindle and audio. Thankful that Amazon & Audible have good return policies. My bad...I should have waited for the inevitably horrendous upcoming reviews. Lesson learned.

Pulitzer Prize, Biography, 2016. Barbarian Days is William Finnegan's memoir of an obsession, a complex enchantment. Surfing only looks like a sport. To initiates it is something else entirely: a beautiful addiction, a demanding course of study, a morally dangerous pastime, a way of life.

horribly boring narration
Revisado: 07-27-17
I had to keep coming back to this book as it was very painful to listen to the narrator dronning on and on with no inflection or tone in his voice. Took me forever to finish it because I kept stopping, then coming back a week later hoping it would get better, it didn't. The story was okay the narration made it and endurance feat.

Historia
Just in time for the Chairman's centennial, the endlessly absorbing sequel to James Kaplan's best-selling Frank: The Voice - finally the definitive biography that Frank Sinatra, justly termed "The Entertainer of the Century", deserves and requires. Like Peter Guralnick on Elvis, Kaplan goes behind the legend to give us the man in full, in his many guises and aspects: peerless singer, (sometimes) powerful actor, business mogul, tireless lover, and associate of the powerful and infamous.

WAY too many peripheral inconsequential details
Revisado: 02-13-16
too many small details that led nowhere that could have easily been left out but seems they were added to lengthen the book, completely unnecessary. It dragged... I wanted to be done when I was halfway through.

Any additional comments?
I am not usually a huge fiction fan, but I fell head over heels in love with this story and the characters. I have always had a fascination with life in the Italian Alps, so that tickled that fancy for me, but the story of immigration to America was surprisingly captivating. Would I have had the courage they did?

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Revisado: 11-25-13
What did you love best about Wild?
Wow! I have entertained the idea of walking the PCT in the next couple years, so I thought this book would be a good intro. It was GREAT! As a female, I could relate to so many of Cheryl's thoughts and feelings. The trail info wasn't as detailed as I would have liked, but her telling of the experienced weighed heavily in my decision to walk this trail instead of the A.T.
