HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for storytelling and narration
Revisado: 03-06-15
What did you love best about Theft of Swords?
The plot had me guessing at every twist and turn. Royce and Hadrian are fantastic characters who you want to know better.
Which character – as performed by Tim Gerard Reynolds – was your favorite?
I'd never heard Reynolds narration before and he's a master. Even if the story wasn't fantastic (which it is), Tim's narration was extremely entertaining.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! But it's way too long for that.
Any additional comments?
This is a completely clean read I can hand to my sons without worry.

Historia
In the late nineteenth century, people were obsessed by one of the last unmapped areas of the globe: The North Pole. No one knew what existed beyond the fortress of ice rimming the northern oceans. On July 8, 1879, the USS Jeannette set sail from San Francisco to cheering crowds in the grip of "Arctic Fever." The ship sailed into uncharted seas, but soon was trapped in pack ice. Two years into the harrowing voyage, the hull was breached. Amid the rush of water and the shrieks of breaking wooden boards, the crew abandoned the ship.

One of the best books of 2014
Revisado: 01-30-15
If you could sum up In the Kingdom of Ice in three words, what would they be?
Adventure. Disaster. Triumph.
What other book might you compare In the Kingdom of Ice to and why?
It's a bit like Unbroken in that you are amazed at what humans can endure, but there are no bad guys, only the elements. The human spirit shines and inspires.
Which character – as performed by Arthur Morey – was your favorite?
Hermann Melville.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. I loved the cheerful attitude of the men when trekking across the ice. It made me think about adding more cheer to my life, even when things look bleak. You have to trek across the ice anyway, right? Might as well be laughing and singing.
Any additional comments?
I was impressed by the wealth of historical information. I didn't just learn about the Jeannette, but about life in the late 19th century.

Revisado: 02-08-14
What did you love best about Paris?
I learned so much history from this novel.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were interesting and engaging.
Have you listened to any of Jean Gilpin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Jean Gilpin's performance was extraordinary. I am now searching for other books she narrated. I honestly cant' imagine why anyone would give her less than five stars. Every character came to life through her voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Ha! At 39 hours? I guess if I had no other responsibilities.
