Historia
From sharecropper's son in Depression-era South Carolina to hearing coordinator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Bowman shares his inspiring life story. Born in Summerton, S.C., in 1931, young Bertie was raised by his stepmother and strict father to do his share of the farm work, in the spirit of molding a man's character by "hard work, determination, and keeping your word," as taught by Booker T. Washington.

Stunning story of a true Gentle Hero
Revisado: 11-21-23
Bertie Bowman was my cousin by marriage. I knew him as a quiet, gentle family member who was always present at family events and drove my uncle’s (his father in-laws) limo. I knew he worked at the capital but had no idea of his story.
How wonderful it was the listen to just how much he went through and how much he achieved. His story is a history lesson and a great memoir to future generations.
