Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Eragon mixed with Harry Potter with a smattering of sex. Delicious
Revisado: 01-28-25
I enjoyed the dragons immensely & their riders. I could have done without the sex scenes. I quickly realized that I missed something important if I fast forward through the sex, so there's that 😁 Rebecca Soler is an amazing narrator. She obviously wasn't feeling well when she recorded part of the book. She is such a trooper though! I already purchased Iron Flame 🔥

Historia
I don't publicly advertise that I'm a mage, but I don't exactly hide it either, and one of the odd things I've learnt over the years is just how much you can get away with if you're blatant enough. Hide something behind smoke and mirrors and make people work to find it, and they'll tear the place down looking for what's there. Alex Verus is a diviner who can see probable futures-a talent that's gotten him out of many a tough scrape. But this time, he may be in over his head. Alex was once apprenticed to a Dark mage, and in his service he did a lot of things he isn't proud of.

Historia
The Little Stranger follows the strange adventures of Dr. Faraday, the son of a maid who has built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor. One dusty postwar summer in his home of rural Warwickshire, he is called to a patient at Hundreds Hall. Home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries, the Georgian house, once grand and handsome, is now in decline - its masonry crumbling, its gardens choked with weeds, the clock in its stable yard permanently fixed at 20 to nine.

I Gave Up
Revisado: 09-07-20
I am a fan of all things literature, but this tale completely lost me. The story was so horribly muddled that I have absolutely no idea what the point was. It dragged on and I waited patiently for something to happen. Some true development of the ghost story drama that was promised by the genre listing, perhaps. I wanted to feel that old Gothic creepiness that comes from stories like this, but the author had me so confused as to what I needed to focus on that I could not find my way. The ghost factor was tragically underdeveloped. Truthfully, all of the characters were. The romance was awkwardly forced, and did nothing for the story. I continuously found myself trying to determine whether this was a ghost story, or an attempted romance novel. Neither of which are fair to say in this case. I had to throw in the towel very near the end, because I could no longer bear to listen to it. In my 31 years of life I can say that there are only 4 books that I could not bring myself to finish. This made number 5.

Excellent historical fiction
Revisado: 08-16-18
This is one of the best historical fiction books set in revolutionary times that I have ever read-listened to. If you're a huge history buff you have to remember that America's First Daughter is historical fiction. The authors did a FANTASTIC job. They did take certain liberties with events and characters as explained in the authors notes. I only knew of the aspects and contributions of Thomas Jefferson that was taught in high school and college. It was a pleasure to read about President Jefferson's private life as seen through the eyes of Martha "Patsy" Jefferson, his eldest daughter. Patsy is the glue of the Jefferson family. The politics and goings on of the day certainly make my appreciate that I was not born in that era. I will absolutely listen this book again. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Meh
Revisado: 03-06-18
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This book suffered from the classic second book syndrome. It was ok. The characters are still good but... Steele & Glass got into a few predicaments that were just foolish & their relationship is going no where.
Any additional comments?
I tend to compare all book series to the amazing Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters. I hope that book 3 in Glass & Steele is better than book 2.
