Good romance; great narration; but poor production
Revisado: 09-22-20
This was a good romance story between fireman Becker and artist Megan. Its light and worth your time if you're looking to pass the time. The author writes great stories and the narrators voices are great. I've listened to these narrators perform other stories and they're really good. But the low cost production left this story lacking, IMO. What could have been a great story was just acceptable. Here's the issue:
The narrators read sections from each chapter. So a chapter may have the male narrator reading a section, performing both his and her dialogue (and their thoughts), and then the female narrator will read a section, performing both her and his dialogue (and each others thoughts). This is low cost production because they have male narrator read sections and then female narrator read overlapping sections, then the editor splices the two sections together.
I've listened to other books by this auditor and these narrators where the female narrator does all the female dialogue and thoughts and the male narrator does all the male dialogue and thoughts. This costs more because the reading has to be coordinated between the narrators in real time. They listen to each other and the recording is so much better. The low cost approach to production left a really good story, one that could have been so much better, just "okay", IMO.
I understand Becker and Megan were kindred spirits, but they fell in "love" too quickly (in maybe 2-3 weeks). Becker and Megan were more in lust in that time frame, not in love. I just don't believe "happy ever after" happens that quickly.

From 'alone' to much more - an entertaining read
Revisado: 08-06-18
I liked this story. I was a little annoyed with the 'secret' that Cedric was keeping that he felt would destroy his relationship with Allison. After the 'secret' was revealed, I better understood his fear. I did think his behavior was inexcusable when he walked away from Allison multiple times. I'm not sure why she took him back so many times. But I found the story an entertaining 'read' worthy of a credit and I recommend it.

Story 'okay', but horrible narration
Revisado: 12-24-15
Would you try another book from Marie Force and/or Holly Fielding?
I listen to Marie Force's "Fatal" series and like it as a light murder/mystery listen, so I decided to give this book a try as a romance listen. It is not very good. I like Holy Fielding - I've listened to other performances by her - but in this book her narration is not up-to-par.
Would you recommend Georgia on My Mind: A Sexy Contemporary Romance to your friends? Why or why not?
No. Bad narration, Holly cannot do the voices of the many men in the senior center.

Review based on free first chapter.
Revisado: 04-18-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I really like Susan Mallery's books (Completely Smitten was great), but the narration in this book seemed too rushed, with no 'feeling'. I even checked the 'narration speed on my device to be sure I wasn't at greater than 1x speed. I will not purchase this book based on this first chapter.
Would you be willing to try another one of Sarah Grace???s performances?
I don't think so

Historia
Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

Strange writing
Revisado: 07-20-10
Let me start by saying I love this narrator and have listened to many other books he has read, so this review is not at all about the narrator.
As for the writer and the book subject, I'm glad this book was on sale because I feel cheated out of my money. What garbage - King is way too weird for me. This will be my last King book. The next time I feel the urge to buy a King story, I hope I come back and read this review so I can talk myself out of it!
