Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Interesting.
Revisado: 01-23-23
Though monotone, it paints a picture of an unsettling household of a manic, controlling, condescending mother, a spineless stepfather, and the child growing up too fast.
Let’s understand, not all LDS moms are mentally unstable.

Historia
In the summer of 1990, Eddie Vedder left the surf and sun in San Diego to join a group of friends working to put a new band together in the Seattle underground. Within months, they were anything but underground; they’d found their lead singer, and Vedder went on to lead Pearl Jam on a global takeover of ‘90s culture. In this latest edition of Audible’s Words + Music series, Vedder dives deep, reflecting on a life at the intersection of art, sensitivity, and masculinity.

Worth your time.
Revisado: 07-12-22
Having focused on music during my adolescence, sifting through a mess of pop garbage in order to find gems, I quickly discovered that few voices were as obvious as Vedder. As well, the songs of Pearl Jam communicated genuine pain, emotion, and joy in unique delivery.
This title allows the listener an opportunity to venture beyond that; a more intimate, detailed illustration of the vibrant, underrated talent of Eddie, which he attributes to his many mentors and examples.
I only wish he’d gone into greater detail regarding them, hence the 4/5 overall score.
In case anyone is wondering, my favorite three voices are Barry Gibb (Bee Gees), the Late, great Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon), and Vedder, in no particular order.

As a recovering people pleaser, I routinely found myself sacrificing time, money, and energy to help anyone who’d ask.
Fact was, everyone knew me as a welcome mat, and had little respect.
In standing up for myself with tact, I’ve regained control of my life and schedule, keeping those real friends around who knew I could do it.
I also recommend Never Split the Difference, by Chris Voss, and The Go-Giver series, by Bob Burg.
These books have been invaluable to me, as a real estate agent and recipient of multiple awkward offers.

Clear instruction.

I enjoyed the book. It allows the listener a specific understanding of not only what to do, but how, which is where so many so-called “self help” books fail.
Though I’m not a regular in the self-discovery genre, I enjoyed the author’s tone; comforting yet non-emasculative.
Anyone wishing to improve will benefit.
The reason for the four star Overall and three star Story rating is due to the spiritualism regarding words of the Universe and Attraction Theory, which I didn’t particularly care for, as well as being long-winded at times. But those sequences are few.
However, the overall five star performance and impact of the book’s message is well worth your patience.

As a Realtor, I was face deep in scripts.
It’s all anyone gives you when you get in the business. Sure, there’s role playing, but it’s usually based on the scripts.
No one else I’ve read gets in as deep emotionally and perceptively as this book does. It’s not about manipulation, but mutual respect and problem solving.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!

Just what I needed to hear.
Revisado: 06-26-20
I was introduced to Darren Hardy by a podcast called Daily Darren, courtesy of a fellow realtor at my brokerage.
I figured, through snap judgments, he’d be just like everybody else, but I’ve been surprised by this. Pleasantly surprised.
Now I recommend it to anyone possessing the desire to change their results, by first changing their habits.
