Historia
Mary B. Addison killed a baby. Allegedly. She didn't say much in that first interview with detectives, and the media filled in the only blanks that mattered: a white baby had died while under the care of a churchgoing black woman and her nine-year-old daughter. The public convicted Mary, and the jury made it official. But did she do it?

I wasn’t expecting that ending smh. I don’t know how I feel. The book has a lottttt of cursing. I hated that. But I still listened, because I was invested. But the ending upset me.

Wholesome
Revisado: 11-23-24
This book was so wholesome. I loved it. I relate to Matthew because I, too, kept journals upon journals to record time stamps throughout the entire day as a child. I didn’t realize anyone else did that. My OCD isn’t severe, but it’s still something I struggle with. The ending of the book made me happy :)

I wanted to love this book…
Revisado: 08-02-24
But it started off soooo slow. Then it got super dramatic. I wasn’t a fan of how the writer told us about things that happened in the past sometimes. It was choppy. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending/epilogue. I just feel like the book could have been written better, with a more complete ending. Also, the narration wasn’t my favorite.

I heard about this book from an OCD page that I follow. I relate to Aza so much, although my OCD [tendencies] might not be so extreme. This was such a good listen. I finished the book in just a few days. The different voices the reader did were entertaining haha.
I recommend this book to anyone who may or may not have OCD, or to anyone who knows someone with OCD.

The ending was abrupt

I was surprised when the book ended. But I did appreciate Marilyn opening up about her harsh upbringing and loneliness. I had this one version of Marilyn in my head this whole time and I was dead wrong. I do hope to find another book that can talk more about her life after her marriage to Joe.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Trevor is brilliant, but…
Revisado: 05-03-24
I would have given 3 stars overall, but that last chapter had me on the edge of my seat. I was fighting back tears and my heart was racing as if he were speaking about my own mother. God is awesome and I’m amazed at the miracle that happened for Ms. Patricia.
I’m huge fan of Trevor’s. I have watched all of his comedy specials. I think he’s brilliant. I love the way his brain works. But this book showed me a side of him that I wasn’t too much of a fan of. He showed little remorse for a few awful things that he did. And the profanity was just totally unnecessary. The stories were interesting and I did learn a lot about apartheid. Who knew SA used to be such a scary place?? I just wish this had been pieced together better. Or just give me a timeline that I can follow. It was all over the place and he repeated himself quite a few times.
But I still love Trevor!
