Historia
In the concluding novel of his epic Civil War tetralogy, Jeff Shaara tells the dramatic story of the final eight months of battle from multiple perspectives: the commanders in their tents making plans for total victory, as well as the ordinary foot soldiers and cavalrymen who carried out their orders until the last alarm sounded. The Civil War did not end quietly. It climaxed in a storm of fury that lay waste to everything in its path. The Fateful Lightning brings to life those final brutal, bloody months of fighting with you-are-there immediacy.

Historia
Air Force pilot Captain Carlyle "Smitty" Harris was shot down over Vietnam on April 4, 1965 and taken to the infamous Hoa Lo prison—nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton." For the next eight years, Smitty and hundreds of other American POWs—including John McCain and George "Bud" Day—suffered torture, solitary confinement, and unimaginable abuse. It was there Smitty covertly taught the Tap Code—an old, long-unused World War II method of communication—to many POWs. In turn, they taught others, and it quickly became a way for POWs to communicate without their captors' knowledge.

Very touching

Most of will have no idea the torture & trauma the Vietnam prisoners of war had to endure. This book touches on their struggles but does it tastefully and with a love of God as the ultimate goal. Amazon g story told from the soldier’s & his wife’s point of view. I high recommend this book.

Historia
Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face to face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame.

Historia
With poignant insight and humor, Frank Vertosick, Jr., MD, describes some of the greatest challenges of his career, including a six-week-old infant with a tumor in her brain, a young man struck down in his prime by paraplegia, and a minister with a .22-caliber bullet lodged in his skull. Told through intimate portraits of Vertosick's patients and unsparing-yet-fascinatingly detailed descriptions of surgical procedures, When the Air Hits Your Brain illuminates both the mysteries of the mind and the realities of the operating room.

Educational and entertaining
Revisado: 04-07-22
I was prepared not to like this book because of the way it started out. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at how human and interesting Dr Vertosick’s story was. The writing style was easy to listen to and yet helped me learn something in the process. I would recommend this book to my friends.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

I didn’t make it past the introduction to the book because of all the f—ing this and f—ing that. The story may be wonderful I will never know because of the gutter language.

When two enemy grenades landed in their trench, Lucas jumped on one and pulled the other under his body to save the lives of his comrades. Great Story
Revisado: 04-28-20
I loved this book. Partly because my father was 19 when he was sent to Iwo Jima. It was interesting to hear all the trouble Jack Lucas went to get in the fighting at 14 years old. It seems incredulous that he was able to pull it off and yet he was a decorated soldier by the age of 17. It's a pretty powerful book and I enjoyed the story line and how it was written and read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good action drama that's not fiction!

Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

A Woman of No Importance - Sensational book!
Revisado: 04-28-20
This is a sensational book and I'm sure bound to be made into several movies, it's that good. The story line kept my attention and I kept wanting to go on to see how Virginia Hall got out of her next scrap. I would definitely advise anyone interested in a good historical novel to read this book, it was fascinating. Ms. Hall was a woman way ahead of her times and was most certainly discriminated by most of her male bosses in government yet she proved herself inspite of them. This was the first time I have ever heard of this woman and yet her name should be way more familiar and more of a household name for all the daring and complex missions she planned and coordinated against the Germans in France in World War II. She almost singlehandedly strengthened the French resistance during a time her male counter part was acting the buffoon. So interesting to see the way it was in those times and in that place.
