A Steamy Gumpy/Sunshine Hockey Romance
Revisado: 01-04-25
Yet another fantastic hockey romance in this series, Forever Wild is heartfelt but spicy. This is Jack and Everly's book, and it all starts with Jack recuperating from injuries he suffered in a car accident. He's become a bit of a grumpy recluse, and Everly winds up checking in on him...and using his pool. His coolness toward Everly turns into friendship and then more as the summer goes on, but can these two make it work?
I adored how Jack and Everly's relationship evolved. The way the book starts with him being such a curmudgeon and her not at all putting up with his attitude was exactly what I wanted, and I smiled so much throughout the story. She might be his teammate's little sister and years younger than him, but she's not going to just accept his unpleasantness. And I loved seeing this new side of Jack. He's so much more complex than I thought he was, and his backstory might be one of my favorites for a MMC by Jenshak. His character showed such dimension, and I love that we finally got his story. And Everly is utterly relatable in so many ways, and I think her being paired with Jack was simply great. Together, their banter is so good, and I feel like their characters brought out the best in each other in a lot of ways in the end, but the dramatic touches that also went on made this book a hard one to put down.
And I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version, and it's so wonderfully narrated. Sebastian York and CJ Bloom are two of my favorites, and the way they portray Jack and Everly is seriously perfect. Their casting was spot on, and they both were able to bring the characters to life and really make me get lost in this romance.
So, if you love hockey romances, then you're definitely going to want to give Forever Wild a read/listen. It's got steam and romance but with just the right amount of tension, and I recommend it.

The gorgeous CEO of Brewer Air is my boss and, thanks to a bet, my new husband for six months. Why? Because I begged. I have a grandmother to support, a stack of bills higher than my five-foot frame, and as a cherry on top, I need to find a new place to live. Soon. Sure, Jason Brewer’s bright green eyes and chiseled jawline steal my breath. His smirk makes me weak. The former military hero’s protective nature is as sexy as watching him control a boardroom or fly a plane.

Friends to Lovers, Billionaire Romance Perfection
Revisado: 08-17-24
The Arrangement is exactly what I wanted it to be: sweet but sexy and with a little bit of drama to round out all the goodness. This is the second book in the series, and it's Jason and Chloe's story. He's the CEO of Brewer Air, and she's his PA, but they've known each other since they were kids. When he finds himself as part of a bet concerning his marital status, Chloe quickly volunteers herself for reasons other than love or lust. What happens though when Jason's motivations are more than just a desire to win the bet?
Chloe is lovely and funny and one of the kindest, most loyal, and caring FMCs I've read in a long time. There's nothing to not love about her character, and she's just the kind of woman Jason needs. But him? He couldn't be more perfect. He's handsome, charming, loves his family, and quite literally the definition of swoon worthy. Jason is a total doll but complex, too, and I dare you to find another recent MMC that can make you fall in love with him quicker. He's just that good. Together, these two have such chemistry, and they simply make sense even though in so many ways they're opposites.
This storyline is completely engaging, and I'm so happy I listened to the audio book of it. Sebastian York as Jason and Amy McFadden as Chloe so fabulously do their characters justice in their portrayals. Their voices feel right, and I enjoyed listening to them bring Jason and Chloe to life.
This book is an absolute must-read billionaire, friends to lovers romance, and I highly recommend it. Jason and Chloe's love story is everything, and you'll be left smiling.

Logan Murphy should come with a warning. He’s as hot as a Carolina Reaper on black asphalt in the middle of July. With perfectly messy dark hair and smoldering blue eyes—and don’t even get me started on the way that black tee stretches across his toned chest… He’s my brother’s best friend. He’s also a football star on track to win the first wide-receiver MVP in league history. Good thing I only date golfers… or I did.

A Funny and Charming Small Town Sports Romance
Revisado: 08-05-24
Fun and sweet but with some chili-pepper spiciness, The Way We Touch is a must-read small-town sports romance with heart. It's Logan and Dylan's story. She's his teammate and best friend's sister, and they meet when he comes home with her brother to spend some time in the off season back home. A month isn't long enough, though, and the undeniable connection they have continues even when he has to go back to New York, but will they be able to survive their time apart and everything else, too?
I love the storyline and it's so well done! It's definitely entertaining, but there are emotional undercurrents that give the story gravity when needed. But this is definitely the kind of book I'd say is light and charming and will make you laugh out loud. Logan and Dylan's meet cute is hands down one of the funniest scenes I've read in ages. I won't ruin anything for you, but basically if it could've gone wrong it did and with hilarious results. Also, the romance is well paced even though there's an immediate attraction between them, and I loved how it all played out.
Plus, the characters are great. Logan isn't just some superstar football player; he's got some depth and a whole lot of charm, and he's so likeable. But Dylan? She's the star for me in this book. She's so completely loveable, and she's the sort of character that you root for the entire time. And then there are all Dylan's brothers and Miss Gina that lend so much to this storyline. They all add just enough as supporting characters and left me wanting more of all of them.
Also, I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of The Way We Touch, and I completely recommend it! I always love listening to Connor Crais, and his performance definitely does Logan's character justice. Samantha Brentmoor as Dylan is just perfect, though. She's got this lovely southern lilt to her performance that's not at all contrived sounding. She really brings Dylan to life, and I don't think I could see anyone else being quite as good as her in the role.
So, if you love sports romance romcoms, this book is a must add to your TBR. It's so cute and funny and spicy, and I'm looking forward to Zane's book next.

Small Town, Second Chance Romance at Its Best
Revisado: 07-19-24
I think every new release by Adriana Locke becomes an instant favorite of mine. This Much Is True is sweet and swoony but with some phenomenally heated chemistry, and I couldn't get enough of Luke and Laina. This is one of the most beautifully well done second chance romances I've ever had the pleasure of reading.
Luke and Laina's story begins when she flees her own wedding right before she's set to marry the wrong man, and she finds herself back to where things feel right: her ex's house. From there, we get to see them find their way back to each other, which was such a gripping journey. I loved every bit of this storyline with its equally charming and emotional moments. The characters are perfection, too. Laina was such a likeable character, and despite her being famous, she's so genuine and sweet. And then there's Luke, and he couldn't be more swoon worthy. He's somehow definitely hot but also really cute at the same time all the while being a good man. Together, they completely work, and I loved how their story played out.
Also, I listened to the audiobook, and I loved how Luke and Laina were acted out by Lance Greenfield and Shiloh James. They truly bring such life to the book, and I could feel the emotions the characters felt. Plus, the funny moments were made even funnier with their deliveries, especially Lance when he finds Laina in his home.
If you love small town, second-chance romance, you do not want to miss This Much Is True. I fell in love with this book right away, and I highly recommend it. It's sweet but has spice and drama, and I couldn't get enough.

Steamy and Suspenseful with Characters You'll Love
Revisado: 06-07-24
Pulse is yet another must read book by this author! It's sexy but emotional and compelling and has a touch of suspense to it, and I couldn't put it down. This is Troy and Dahlia's story, and it's a workplace, opposites attract, stalker romance. When the book begins, we find that these two are attracted to one another but basically that's "never" going to happen. We also find that Dahlia's recently broken up with a guy that seemingly still wants her, and her dad is going through some serious legal issues, so she's got her plate full. They work together, but he drives her a bit nuts. What happens when things in Dahlia's personal life take a turn for the worse and she needs some protection from her brooding co-worker?
Adriana Locke is responsible for some of my favorite characters, and Troy and Dahlia are no exception! Dahlia is such an incredibly likeable character. She's the sort of personality that's sweet and could probably make friends with a rock. Plus, her life hasn't been perfect, but she doesn't seem to let any of that get in her way, and I respect that 100%. Her character is affable and endearing, but she's a little bit funny, too.
And then there's Troy...Troy is...how do I put this eloquently? HOT. Completely, utterly, unabashedly hot. He's protective and grumpy but you still like him, and I mean his backstory? Pretty heartbreaking, but he's such a genuinely good MMC. There was never a moment where I questioned his character's motivations or actions, and to top it off he's an actual hero. LOVED him!
The storyline of this book is great, too. It's entertaining and engaging with just the right amount of spice and suspense. Everything about this book worked for me as a reader, and I was roped in right away. I feel like I understood the complete picture from the characters frame of references to the conflict and resolution, and it all made for a story I didn't want to end.
Also, I listened to the audiobook, which I enjoyed. CJ Bloom and Connor Brown both did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, and I felt immersed in their world as I listened. She sounds lovely and acted the part with such personality, and I especially loved hearing Troy with a gravelly voice. It might just be my humble opinion, but these characters were cast perfectly.
Pulse is a definite must read/listen. It's got great characters and a plot that keeps you interested from the first pages to the last. I recommend this book for lovers of grumpy/sunshine couples and workplace romance, but really I think anyone that likes contemporary romance will love it.

Commitment was never my thing. But I've been directionless for far too long. It's time to take on some responsibilities and get my life together. Bidding on my best friend's brother at a bachelor auction didn't help me with that. Neither did having a hot, secret fling with him. Too bad that didn't stop me. Because now I'm in way over my head. And I'm afraid I might not be ready for the biggest commitment of all. Love

A Sweet and Well Written Small Town Romance
Revisado: 06-06-24
Sweet but spicy, this small town, opposites attract romance will leave you swooning. It's Max and Harper's story, and they're definitely not a pair you'd expect to work. He's the former pro-football player that's now the high school coach and math teacher as well as a newly single dad, and she's the free-spirit diner waitress that's also Max's boss. Despite neither of them being into commitment for their own reasons, things progress between them quicker and more intensely than either anticipated. Can they work in the long run, or will their non-committal hangups end their love story?
I so love all the characters that live in this small town. Max as the newish single dad pulled at my heartstrings. I mean his relationship with his son literally made me go "aww." Plus, he's just a genuinely decent guy, and I adore him for that. Then we've got Harper, and she's going through so much when the book begins. She's such an endearing character, and it's easy to see how and why she is the way she is. Her very nature and joie de vivre had me loving her from get go. Together, though, they're somehow even better. They complement each other so well and really just make sense even though maybe they shouldn't on paper. I just couldn't get enough of them. And the secondary characters? They all served a purpose throughout, and I really hope we get to see more of them in future books.
Also, I listened to the audio of this book, and I'm so happy I did! Both Sebastian York and Erin Mallon did a phenomenal job bringing Max and Harper to life. I was able to feel the emotions clearly, and hearing the characters brought life to them. York and Mallon's portrayals of these characters added personality and feeling to Knupp's words, and I highly recommend the audio version of Singled Out.
Singled Out is a must read for small town, contemporary romance lovers. It's a well written romance that I didn't want to end, and I'm excited to see what's next in this series.
Thanks to Home Cooked Books for giving me the opportunity to listen to this book.

If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no. Why? One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era. Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.

A Must-Read Romance with Witty, Flirty Banter
Revisado: 02-20-24
Blakely is on the brink of a bit of a “tri-life crisis” when we meet her on the eve of her 30th birthday. She’s been living a free and slightly wild life for the last decade, but now that she’s almost 30 she wants things to change and to become more adultier. Renn’s Blakely’s older brother’s (Brock) best friend and teammate that’s obligated to be on his best behavior per both his father and rugby team. They’re both in Vegas for Blakely’s birthday (albeit he’s there unexpectedly with her brother), and one thing leads to another and a night of fun winds up being way more than either had bargained for when Renn and Brock initially crashed the girls’ weekend that was planned.
The Proposal is the very definition of why I first fell in love with Locke’s writing. It’s fun and romantic and bright, and the characters are instantaneously engaging and loveable. Blakely is cheeky, sweet, and is completely relatable in certain ways. Renn is disarmingly charming (and apparently hot) and given that I love a cocky but misunderstood hero, he’s everything I love. Add in Brock and Ella, who’s Blakely’s best friend and Brock’s sorta-kinda-not-but-maybe girlfriend, and you get this cast of characters that I loved immediately. Also, I'm seriously hoping that Renn's siblings all get books, too.
And Renn and Blakely together? Loved them! The witty, flirty banter is fun and made me not want to put their story down. The chemistry between is palpable, and the spice was deliciously spot on. The level of drama adds a solid level of interest to the storyline without being too dramatic.
This is yet another must read by Locke. She's one of my favorite contemporary romance authors around, and if you haven't read her before this is a great book to start with.

A Beautifully Moving Second-Chance Romance
Revisado: 01-21-24
Beautifully done and filled with raw emotion, Written in the Scars is so much more than a simple romance. Yes, there's a lot of those elements, but it's also a story about how the people we love make up who we are and what we understand of ourselves and the world.
When the book begins, we find that Ty is just back in town after having been gone for a number of weeks after he and Elin, his wife, had a huge fight and he took off. She's not quick to forgive and forget, and a lot happens on the journey back to each other. Ultimately, can Ty and Elin fix their marriage, or will everything they've gone through and continue to go through be too much?
These characters are phenomenally written and authentic. What they deal with feels so completely real, and I love that their marriage faces so many obstacles similar to what lots of couples deal with. It's that and the idea that their love is so fundamentally pure that makes you root for them to work through their marital issues and hope for the best.
Then there's the secondary characters who are almost just as important to the foundation of this storyline, and whom I fell in love with just as much as I did Ty and Elin. Elin's brother Jiggs is a little goofy but a lot sincere. His wife and Elin's best friend feels a lot like my best friend with how deep their friendship is. And then there's Cord, and he's hands down my favorite of the friends. He's kind and genuine, and I fell in love with his character immediately. This friend group is more than just friends. They're family. Their presence in the book helps move this story forward, and it wouldn't be the same without them.
Also, this book is amazing to read, but I also listened to it and it somehow made this book even better than it already is. Lance Greenfield does a great job portraying Ty, and I feel like he really brought his character to life. And Emma Wilder as Elin? She's flat out amazing. The way she made me feel what Elin was feeling was brilliantly done and so completely moving. Greenfield and Wilder's performances are wonderful and a great fit for Ty and Elin.
This is an incredibly emotional and worthwhile book. It's got love, loss, and happiness and will make you laugh, cry, swoon, and believe in the power of love in all its forms. I love this book, and this is an absolute must read. Just get the tissues ready.
