Ten years of drugs and white collar crime - his 'story' is the unending description of a wasted life. There is no explanation of how he builds his business or accumulated his wealth, just a torturous diary of how he destroyed it. I am torn between returning this book to deprive him of a royalty, or keeping it as a reminder to never purchase anything that he is remotely involved with.

Getting up at 5:00, exercising, taking time to meditate/pray, planning your day and a number of other principles designed to focus your goals and maximize productivity are lost in a ridiculous storyline involving a billionaire who claims not to care about money, but who has a mansion in Mauritius, a fleet of private jets, helicopter, etc. This billionaire takes an entrepreneur and an artist under his wing, and purports to teach them the principles which caused him to be so successful. While the lesson progresses, we learn that the entrepreneur is under coercion from her investors to give up her interest in the company she founded, and periodically receives death threats from these investors. The artist is characterized as brilliant but undisciplined. The billionaire, who annoyingly refers to his proteges as "cats" and to anything he considers good as "gnarly", supposedly imparts his lessons while he transports the couple to Maritius, India, Italy and several other countries. The entrepreneur and artist fall in love and get married in Sao Paulo (the billionaire pays for the wedding), after the billionaire's security team thwarts an assassination attempt on the entrepreneur by her errant investors. The billionaire buys out the investors, the couple become wildly successful and produce a "brilliant" son who they name after the billionaire, and the billionaire dies peacefully in Rome several years later from a rare illness, after he donates his fortune to charity but leaves his mansion in Maritius to the couple. The story is punctuated by appearances of an elderly man called the Mindbender, who was the billionaire's life coach. Whatever solid principles the author intended to convey were crammed into the end of the book, and completely lost in the maze of this idiotic story. This is the only Audible book I have ever returned, and I would give it a "0" star rating if it existed. Do not bother to waste your time on this.

My headline summarizes the book. I've saved you $4.99. It is not accurate to even characterize this book as "basic" or "fundamental". Do not bother purchasing it unless you are completely clueless about money.
