Out of options, Ufthak leads his Waaagh! through the mysterious webway, to a place where kunnin’, sneakin’, and thinkin’ are the name of the game. A place with little truck for muscle and brawn – Commorragh, the Dark City. Here, where kabals and haemonculus covens pump psychic viscera into the warp, Ufthak is thrown into gladiatorial combat and soon finds himself up against an archon who will stop at nothing to prove she deserves to rule the Dark City – even if it means bringing Commorragh down around her.

A great book for Orks n' Drukari enthusiasts!
Revisado: 03-08-24
Boss Blackhawk and some other gitz have a good scrap with spikey knife ears, and nary a 'umie in sight! Xenos centric stories are my favorite type of books from Black Library, and this one gives love to one of the more obscure factions. I learned more about Drukari antics from this book than I have from a dozen lore videos, and the Orky bits are great, too!

...Unlike Cadia, amirite?
Why are you all pulling out bayonets?
Any hoot, this is a good guard story. you got your three essentials for a good IG book: 1) charismatic army dudes(and dudettes) with hope's and dreams, 2) circumstances putting those Hope's and dreams in a box and shooting it, and 3) bureaucracy and other things high command fouls up.
There are those that complain about 'woke' stuff being in this book, but these are the opinions of fools, and I scoff haughtily in their general direction. This book has several characters in a dire situation, and each are shown to struggle and adapt as people would when stranded on a pebble of hell formerly called 'home'. It's got twists and turns, action a plenty, and excellent characterization. It's even got a whisp of a love story, though I'll admit that that felt a smidge tacked on, in my opinion. Even so, if that's my one critique, surely it's worth a try for any fan of Cadia.

Every sidekick has a story. When a book-loving goblin breaks the rules, he inadvertently becomes the sidekick to a heroic young prince. As they set out to save their kingdom from an evil sorcerer and his minions, no one can be trusted, neither human nor goblin, and the world as they know it will never be the same. The Prince and the Goblin is a book in which a goblin who loves to read just may save the world.

A jolly tale fitting for any fantasy enthusiast.
Revisado: 10-24-23
In terms of tone, the book is a half step between an 80's Disney movie and some one's first DnD adventure, and I mean that in the best possible way. All the characters are a delight, the narrative has a good variety of twists and turns. Hob the Goblin has earned a spot in my heart. Good fun all around, and I look forward to the next book.

Transplant. Cadian. Sniper. Legend. Sergeant Darya Nevic is all of these and more… but behind the stories stands a soldier haunted by the unwelcome fame her successes have brought. During the Cadian 217th’s assault on the manufactorum world of Attruso, Darya finds herself out of her depth in a war that is fought with words as much as with weapons. As a fearsome winter closes in and her men begin to die around her, she will be forced to confront her doubts and make an impossible choice – to become the figurehead her soldiers need, or to believe the unimaginable promises of the mysterious t’au.

Revisado: 09-09-23
It's always a pleasure to read(listen?) to a good guard book. After a chaotic start, our tale shows guards in the trenches and bombed out hab blocks struggling as any good Cadian, wanna-bes or otherwise, should. Sergeant Nevak (I probably misspelled that, oh the curse of audio) feels well fleshed out and I for one would love to see more of her.

Glory returns to Fenris. Magnus the Red and his traitorous legion are defeated upon the icy cliffs of the Space Wolves’ home world, their hollow remains scattered into the darkest depths of the World Sea. Yet Ragnar Blackmane, the youngest Wolf Lord in his Chapter’s noble history, does not feel victorious. He is uneasy. Uncertain of his purpose and place in the great war for the Imperium. Until a vision strikes him of a terrible beast, one greater than any he or his warriors have faced before.

The wolves of Fenris have a jolly jaunt.
Revisado: 02-06-23
First off, I like orks more than space marines, so my bias whilst reviewing will be obvious. Second, the VAs and sound design team put their all into this and deserve every piece of praise I can deliver, especially that one guy who played the 'shadow warrior'. Loved his voice. Third, not nearly enough orks.
In all seriousness, while I enjoyed the story, it felt a little bland for all the hype around it. If you like Space Wolves, you get this book. If you don't like Space wolves, I would still recommend, but acknowledge that it's being told by one of them, and as such they try to make it sound like an epic space adaptation of Beowulf whenever they go get eggs at the store.

Baggit is the fast-talking ratling with an eye for the big score. Clodde is the ogryn with a heart of gold and a head full of dreams. These abhuman deserters-turned-criminals operating in the city of Varangantua have crossed the wrong man for the last time—and now they’re on the run. At least, that is, until Baggit learns of a score that could pay their debts and save their skins—the Wraithbone Phoenix, a fabled treasure rumoured to be hidden aboard a voidship recently scheduled for decommission. But Baggit and Clodde aren’t the only ones with eyes on the prize.

Possibly my favorite 40k book!
Revisado: 02-03-23
A delightful homage to the Maltese(?) Falcon, done from the view of downtrodden but likable abhumans as they deal with the inherent madness that is 40k life. Excellent VA work, rousing story, likeable characters, it's got it all! my one critique would be that there was ALOT to keep track of, but with how engaging I found the book, it's practically a strength.

A collection of stories about a red clad sister.
Revisado: 08-20-22
Overall, I enjoyed this read, but it has some shaky bits. I like Sister Agitha and her sisters, their characterization was good and most of their exploits are worthy praise. However, there were bits where it dragged for me, mainly the story with the inquisitor, and some of the later ones had some 'hiccups' in the performance.
All that said, I loved every bit with the orks! the opening story had a gripping tension that got me invested almost right away, and the later story had that silly ork feeling you love to see.

Carried by six Sisters of Battle, each the embodiment of a revered saint, the funerary procession known as the Triumph of Saint Katherine marches from world to world, battlefront to battlefront. Where darkness and heresy are rampant, it brings faith, hope and courage to the warriors of the Imperium. Sister Avra of the Order of Our Martyred Lady is honoured beyond measure to battle alongside the sacred procession in defence of the beleaguered world of Kiros. Revisado: 08-02-22
First and foremost, anything Emma Gregory puts work into is top tier in my book. Secondly, this story shows how martyrs can shape the Adepta Soroitas by having a few of them tell stories to eachother, and I think that that is an amazing premise. And third, don't do Chaos, kids.

Revisado: 07-30-22
Full disclosure, I am not a Tau fan, but I did enjoy this tale of them. Having to contend with the unpredictable nature of both Chaos and Orks, Farsight's technology and grit makes him feel far more relateable than many actual humans from the setting. Lots of fighting, and I appreciated that as an Ork player. Also good dat dat Red Git learned how to use a real choppa.
