I enjoyed this trilogy as much as I did Caraval. I wasn’t a huge fan of the male narrator, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. I hope the author continues to give us more books set in this world.

Good story, but… (spoilers)

I enjoyed the story overall, but there were too many questions left unanswered at the end. The biggest questions (in my mind) are where did these parasites even come from in the first place, and what’s to stop them from just reinfecting and taking over people’s brains again? I’m also not sure why this was a trilogy. Each book was very short and should’ve been combined into one book. My guess is that they will probably combine it into a box set for one credit later on like they’ve done with other series.

Not totally sure what I just listened to…

I was hoping for an epilogue or explanation at the end that would tie the story together. I honestly have no clue which parts of the story were real, which were a dream, and which were hallucinations. Did the characters all die, or was it just a dream? I have no idea. Also, the heavy breathing/crying/panting drug out for way too long in many places. It was somewhat entertaining overall, but I wanted closure or an explanation at the end and never got one.
