Historia
For 53 years, San Francisco waited. Waited for a team like the 2010 Giants to come along. Waited for a team that could end a title drought that started in New York and carried on for more than five decades after a move to the West Coast. Waited for that one magical postseason run that could unleash more than a half-century of pent-up frustration. At long last, the 2010 Giants hopped on that magic carpet and made it happen. San Jose Mercury News beat reporter Andrew Baggarly captured the 2010 Giants' incredible run through the regular season, playoffs and World Series in his new book.

So wonderful to re-live that season and learn some great nuggets about so many players. Great narration too. Well done Baggs!

Historia
In 2007, pitcher Barry Zito signed a seven-year, $126 million contract with the San Francisco Giants. At that time, it was the largest contract ever given to a pitcher. He was at the top of his game, in peak physical condition, and had the kind of financial security most people can only dream of. He was also miserable. And it began to show. Zito's career declined over the next few years until he hit rock bottom - watching from the bench as his team won the World Series in 2010. In Curveball, Zito shares his story with honesty and transparency.

Bravo Barry!

Arguably the most honest sports memoirs I’ve ever experienced. As a Giants fan who watched his struggles and triumphs, it was fascinating to get a window into his world at the time and into the absolutely wild upbringing he had. I always give him mad props for doing the entire narration himself and not doing the usual reading of the first chapter and then letting an actor do the rest of the book. Made the experience even more raw and real and he did a stellar job. Highly recommend this one!

Such an important read

Standing ovation for Shellenberger. As a former resident of San Francisco and someone who still works there regularly/knows people on both sides of this issue, I can tell you this book is right on the money. It’s incredibly frustrating how much harm is being done in the name of doing good and not only does he diagnose the problem and its roots, he actually gives a balanced, fair-minded solution. Bravo!

When it comes to Stephen Curry - point guard for the Golden State Warriors and reigning MVP of the NBA - journalists, fans, and sports analysts are running out of ways to say "wow". Deemed too small and too short at 6'3" and 180 pounds by NBA coaches around the league, Curry has taken the game back from the bigger men who usually dominate the court.

An Audiobook Narrator Who Can Pronounce Athlete’s Names!
Revisado: 11-29-21
The book is fantastic and gives a beautiful window into Curry’s character and brilliance, but I gotta give a big shout out to Caz the narrator because after listening to multiple sports audiobooks where the narrator butchers just about every athlete’s name, it was so refreshing to hear him smoothly read every player’s name correctly AND deliver the book in a pleasing, professional manner. Big ups!

Historia
The Golden State Warriors dominated the NBA for the better part of a decade. Since the arrival of owner Joe Lacob, they won more championships and sold more merchandise than any other franchise in the sport. And in 2019, they opened the doors on a lavish new stadium. Yet all this success contained some of the seeds of decline. Ethan Sherwood Strauss' clear-eyed exposé reveals the team's culture, its financial ambitions and struggles, and the price that its players and managers have paid for all their winning.

Fantastic Inside Look
Revisado: 10-15-21
I’ve been a Warriors junkie for 30 years and consume huge amounts of Warriors coverage, but I still learned a ton from this book and Ethan did an incredible job giving insight into the minds of these people. Also the sneaker element to basketball decisions was an awesome angle.

Historia
Public speaking can be terrifying. For David Nihill, the idea of standing in front of an audience was scarier than cliff jumping into a thorny pit of spiders and mothers-in-law. Without a parachute or advanced weaponry. Something had to change.
In what doesn't sound like the best plan ever, David decided to overcome his fears by pretending to be a comedian called "Irish Dave" for one full year, crashing as many comedy clubs, festivals, and shows as possible.

As a professional comic for over a decade, I highly recommend you do everything Dave tells you. Perfect book for the aspiring comedian and/ anyone who wants to infuse humor into their work/life. Also, I loved his narration. Not an easy thing to do and he knocked it out of the park. Big bravo!
