Not just for space junkies
Revisado: 11-27-11
I admit that I am not normally a fan of the space genre of sci-fi. Usually its all just a bit too male-orientated for me, especially when long sections of book are dedicated to weapons, or technology or the spaceship... However, I loved this series, I have now listened to all the Miles Vorkosigan books, they have been fabulous company as I have repainted the interior of my house :-) Miles is flawed, but extremely well understood by the author, you can't help but love him in spite of himself. I have enjoyed that in later books the author has you watching Miles through the eyes of others, which is fairly amusing when you have watched him 'grow up' through the series. If you, like me, do not normally choose this genre of book, give it a go, maybe you will also be pleasantly surprised and become a fan.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Love the dog
Revisado: 11-27-11
I love the narrator's version of the dog in this series. Its the part that stuck with me the most. I hope that in later books he gets more dialogue. The rest of the book is quite good, although the age thing is a little poorly managed. As long as you do not take it all too seriously this series is good entertainment.

Historia
Lacey Terwilligers shock and humiliation over her husband’s philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass email to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.

Funny and enjoyable
Revisado: 11-27-11
I really enjoyed this book, it was a great little story and had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Its not deep and meaningful, but its super light-entertainment and some of the insults (spineless, dickless etc.) will amuse me for weeks to come.

Memorably awful
Revisado: 11-27-11
Its been a while since I tried to listen to this, as I had seen some good reviews I carried on past where I would normally had just given up. Big mistake for me, it means there is more of it wasting space in my brain than there should be. This is the kind of book that makes you worry about some Americans, this kind of gun-obsessive trash is what scares non-Americans. Even now, months after I tried to listen to this book I still rate it as one of the worst books I have ever stumbled across and it was a complete waste of a credit. Unless you LOVE guns and poor character development I would advise giving this series a wide birth.

My first audio book
Revisado: 07-23-10
This was my first audio book. I have now read (heard) all of this series and am totally addicted to my audio books. I first got them as I drive a lot for my job and I promise you the km's just fly by when I have a good book. I actually look forward to long drives now! I even got my book club to read the paper version of this book 2 months ago and they also loved it. It can be a little racy if you are a conservative reader, but what a great story with fantastic characters!
