Historia
Even after pre-ordering the pod that would allow them to play "Glendaria Awakens", Krista and Devin still had to wait months before they were able to experience the newest in VRMMORPG (virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game) technology. The wait was definitely worth it as they entered into a game world that was virtually indistinguishable from real life - apart from the obvious game elements of course. After starting in a typical starting town, they learned everything they needed to survive in this new world.

Decent, quick listen
Revisado: 02-24-21
Overall this is a good story, although it doesn’t really provide anything new or unique in the dungeon core genre. It’s a rather short entry compared to similar books, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, except for the fact that it is extremely crunchy, so stats, skills, etc., including ones that have no bearing on the story, take up about half of the book. This leaves relatively little time for character and plot development so the story feels a bit flat.

Historia
After successfully completing his objective inside the house in South Carolina, the transformed soul of serial killer Clive Logan was randomly transported to another location as his reward. Something about the new house he found himself in was quite different, however; whereas the Spirit Core had previously “haunted” a house filled with only adult targets, two children that apparently lived in the new location - a young boy and a slightly older girl - were thrown into the mix.

A Fantastic Sequel
Revisado: 02-19-21
After reading the first book in this series, I was really excited for book 2, but also a little nervous that the dungeon core would quickly become too OP and the story would lose momentum. The author did a fantastic job of keeping the character balance in check in really unique ways. The children in the story are absolutely creepy and I love the way that they’re slowly led down their path of darkness. Despite everything I loved about this book, the interactions between the parents/children were a bit hit or miss for me, There were times where I would read something and could easily put myself in the place of the parents having the same discussion with my own kids and other times where the things the parents said to the kids felt like tropes from an 80’s sitcom. Outside of that, I absolutely enjoyed this book and I’m eagerly awaiting book 3.

Historia
Clive Logan is a serial killer; or, to be more accurate, Clive Logan was a serial killer. Caught after a record-breaking streak of murders, he was executed by lethal injection by the state, while thousands of his victims' grieving family members watched. That should’ve been the end of his emotionless and unfeeling existence - but it wasn’t.

Awesome Spin on Dungeon Core
Revisado: 02-19-21
Most of the dungeon core books I’ve read have fallen pretty cleanly in the LitRPG/GameLit categories and this one filled a hole that I didn’t even know needed filling. This was an extremely fun and engaging book with a unique system underlying the haunting. Not only were the mechanics interesting and unique, but they didn’t take away from the tension among the characters, which is really where this story came to life. If I had one thing I’d like to change in this, it would be the fluidity of the dialogue. There were times where the suspension of disbelief was broken a bit by conversations that felt a bit stilted. As an audiobook only listener, it is sometimes hard to tell whether that is due to the written dialogue or the performance, but regardless, it was not a major distraction, just something that I hope is refined over the course of the series. Overall, the 7 hours went by way too fast and I couldn’t wait for the next book in the series.
