Oh god, this is such a corny book. This guy sense of humor is like at the second grade level. Really just rambles on. A whole lot of nothing new. No new information whatsoever.

Warning: narration is horrendous!
Revisado: 12-06-15
The fact that the narrator refers to it as a "performance" is laughable. His enfisis is very distracting and makes the story hard to follow. You are better off buying the printed version and reading it yourself.

Historia
The death of General George S. Patton is shrouded in mystery. While officially the result of an unfortunate car accident, the evidence points to a far more malevolent plot: murder. So says investigative and military journalist Robert K. Wilcox in his book Target: Patton: The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton. Written like a WWII spy thriller and meticulously researched, Target: Patton leads you through that fateful December day in 1945, revealing a chilling plan to assassinate General Patton.

Patton was the greatest general America has ever produced. The Germans were mortified by him as were the Russians. A must read for all WW2 /Patton/Stalin history buffs!...Also the reader was excellent...five star *****-

As the work at the heart of Christianity, the Bible is the spiritual guide for one out of every three people in the world. It is also the world's most widely distributed book, having been translated into over 2,000 languages, as well as the world's best-selling book, year after year. But the Bible is a complex work with a complicated and obscure history.

too much echo!

WARNING - A slap back echo effect has been added to the readers voice. It's a pity because it's very distracting and ruins an already weak delivery.

Historia
Stonewall Jackson was a military genius, at once peculiar and perfect, a fearless soldier in battle but a God-fearing man who hesitated to kill on Sunday. He broke the rules of war to win, and yet his tactics are studied in military academies the world over. From the remarkable Valley Campaign through the Seven Days, Manassas, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and the masterful though tragic sweep at Chancellorsville, where Jackson was felled by one of his own soldiers, this is a compelling narrative of men and war.

War stories.
Revisado: 01-17-10
Lot's of battles but provides very little detail or insights onto the political and social issues of the times. Also tends to embellish war in general with little mention to the far less glamorous aspects of a "civil war".
The narration was good.

"Regime change" did not begin with the administration of George W. Bush, but has been an integral part of U.S. foreign policy for more than one hundred years. Starting with the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in 1893 and continuing through the Spanish-American War and the Cold War and into our own time, the United States has not hesitated to overthrow governments that stood in the way of its political and economic goals.

Historia
Up until now, the Korean War has been the black hole of modern American history. The Coldest Winter changes that. Halberstam gives us a masterful narrative of the political decisions and miscalculations on both sides. He charts the disastrous path that led to the massive entry of Chinese forces near the Yalu, and that caught Douglas MacArthur and his soldiers by surprise. He provides astonishingly vivid and nuanced portraits of all the major figures.

A war story...
Revisado: 01-16-09
It's a pretty good war story and the reader is good, my only complaint is that I would have liked more history on the root causes of the war and the why when and how Korea was divided into two separate parts.

Firstly, Michael Toms is an excellent host! But I find his guest author and gay advocate Andrew Harvey's assertion that Rumi was (like himself) a homosexual and that he and his guru Shams-i-Tabrizi were somehow secretly involved in a homosexual relationship as being absurd and self serving at best. In actuality ones sexuality is irrelevant and has much more to do with the translator's perspective then Rumi's message.

Historia
During the early years of the Cold War, the anti-communist witch hunt that we now call McCarthyism swept through American society. It was the most widespread and longest-lasting episode of political repression in American history. Dozens of men and women went to prison, thousands lost their jobs, and untold numbers of others saw what happened to those people and refrained from expressing controversial or unpopular ideas.
