A Novel Approach to History & Tremendous Challenge
Revisado: 11-16-20
This show by its design is genuinely original, and it’s aims highly attractive. Tracking the last 2,000 years by each decade is as captivating as it is daunting. Paul and Patrick have a very warm and enjoyable rapport, in addition to the compelling way they examine the history presented. Moreover, their emphasis on history-in-context is refreshing. They also don’t talk over each other, which is a huge plus.
This show caters equally both to the casual history fan, and the inexhaustible history buff. If you want to listen to a well research show with excellent hosts, give this one a listen!

A Brilliant Biography of Stalin & the Soviet Regime
Revisado: 06-29-18
This is an utterly brilliant, even handed and well written biography of the late despot. Though you could also call it a comprehensive biography of the Soviet regime as well from 1929 - 1941. This is definitely not for those new to the subject, as it requires a lot of background knowledge. Yet for those in the know, it is stuffed full of both political and personal knowledge of Stalin that had never been brought to light prior. I wait patiently for volume three.

Historia
This best-selling, highly-acclaimed account is a hilarious but scathing baseball tell-all. After being voted the 1977 American League Cy Young Award winner, Sparky Lyle was rewarded for his efforts by being benched. The Yankees, a leader of free agency, signed Goose Gossage as their closer. Things only went downhill from there and the 1978 season turned out to be one of controversy, firings, fights, and acrimony. In short, it was a zoo.

The 78' Yankees in Sparky's Own Voice!
Revisado: 04-14-17
This book was a Yankees classic long before the audiobook, and is made even better as an audiobook. Hearing Sparky Lyle narrate The Bronx Zoo is really the apex arrangement for this experience, and he does such a good job. It is almost like Lyle sitting at a bar and telling you about his 1978 season. That is something special, and so is this audiobook.

Sir Martin Gilbert At His Best, Perfected By Christian Rodska
Revisado: 09-15-16
Long story short, Sir Martin Gilbert is the gold standard when it comes to Churchill biographies. For being dubbed, "The Official Churchill Biographer," he is incredibly fair and even in his portrayal of the man. Whilst presenting the complexities of his character and the times he lived, it brings forth a truly human picture. Yet also managing to uphold the most important duty of any historian, analyzing history within the context that it occurred.
Christian Rodska, as usual, is masterful. There is no audiobook written or regarding Winston Churchill that is complete without Rodska's singular contribution.
