Then it kicked in and I enjoyed it and appreciated how different from the usual it is.

If you think this book might be like other good young adult series, think again! It waited 60 yrs to be published and should have waited longer. The main female character is so extreme in her moody, childish, take care of me attitude, it’s very annoying. Evidently the author is leaving a LOT of room for character growth in the rest of the series, but I’ll never find out. The writing style is immature, and the plot is obvious. I made it to the end thanks to a good narration.

I have listened to many books and this is the first review I have written. The poignant reality of life in France during WWII is felt by the listener. The story is so moving, I cried through the last chapter. Highly recommended.
