It’s a good entry into the high republic era and a great performance.
I feel like it could use a little more of the original music score to not feel so distant atmospheric wise to other books.
And this one in particular uses a lot of idioms we use and less slang from the starwars universe that at times takes me out of the immersion.
That aside it is a well written story and has lots of interesting implications for the stories to come. Also some cool information I didn’t previously know about the Star Wars universe.

Marc Thompson’s reading is on point as usual. Timothy Zahn writes an wonderful novel about the infamously intelligent Thrawn. The story is griping and the internal thoughts of Thrawn are truly fascinating. You get to learn a great deal about Thrawn and who he truly is, as well as some characters you never knew you wanted to know until now.
Im off to listen to the second one.
