Amazing!

This was amazing! Gene Wolfe continues to blow my mind. This is shocking in parts, frustrating, and sometimes a little tough and raw with some hard subject matter. In other parts rich, beautiful, and poetic. This is another amazing story just as philosophical as new sun with all the complexity wolf is known for. There is more going on here then is on the surface. Careful reading or listening recommend.

This is the best Gene Wolf podcast you will find

This feels like you are with friends discussing a masterpiece. Phil and Metz will explain the important plot details and give you great insights into things easily overlooked in Gene Wolfs works, but will not completely leave no room for your own interpretation, or make you feel like you are at a lecture. Phil and Metz know the material very well and have a great sense of humor to keep you interested. I would recommend this to anyone that loves Gene Wolf.

If you haven’t read this it’s time! I highly recommend new readers to watch the “Bram Stoker Dracula”Directed by Frances Ford Coppola. I think it works as a great companion piece of art.

Honestly an upgrade we need

This was amazing! I really love the themes of evolution as well as the consequences of progress. The idea that In the end we need compassion to tackle big things together, and to feel more and understand each other before it’s to late. Blake crouch asks if we can figure this out before the clock strikes 12.

Not a book that is easy to get a grip on. It is instead a book that will grip you in its immense layers and depths.

An actual must read

If you picked up this book read it. You will rarely find so much wisdom in one place. I would recommend taking your time. Don’t stretch the book out a year, but you can do it in 3 - 5 days light reading. This was my first read and I had a wonderful experience.

The book was a real great first novel. The story was fine, but this audio book makes a decision that pulled me out of the story often. There is this weird techno track they add in that doesn’t feel like it fits the story. Also for some reason it will play in the middle of chapters while characters are talking. Like I said great story. The presentation of it was a miss for me.

Good Story Bad Tones I’m some parts

There are some good surprises in store if you’ve only seen the movie. It was still a great adventure story. On the other hand it can get a little preachy and doesn’t completely elaborate in satisfying ways. Was not a fan of how a few crucial things had happened out of story in the background. At the end of the day this is the book that spawned the blockbuster and it worth a read.

A better movie for once

I enjoyed the book, but to be honest felt like it could have been trimmed down. Also a few writing pros made me laugh. “As focused as Karate students at an anatomy lecture” actually made me laugh out loud . Unfortunately I don’t believe this was supposed to be funny. I think having seen the movie first I was a bit let down and usually that goes the other way.
